SMU vs Wake Forest Prediction
I’m going to stick with Wake. That said, this is going to be a very fun matchup and it should be a great game to check out. The Demon Deacons absolutely demolished an overmatched Merrimack squad last weekend 77-0. Wake Forest managed a ridiculous 730 total yards, 546 passing yards, 31 first downs, 4-of-7 on third downs and zero turnovers. The defense held the Warriors to just 11 first downs, 3-of-19 on third downs and 202 total yards. The only real gripe was Wake’s 11 penalties for 115 yards. It was a great one to watch if you’re a Wake Forest fan but probably pretty boring otherwise. During this current six-game win streak the Deacons have scored 30 or more points in every outing.
As for SMU, they didn’t have a ton of trouble versus a pretty solid Virginia Tech team last weekend. The Mustangs posted 26 first downs with 8-of-12 on third downs and 569 total yards in that win. Defensively SMU gave up 417 yards and 23 first downs but also had a couple of takeaways. The Mustangs have been scoring great themselves this year; they’ve hit 23 or more points in every game. We could have a very high total in this one if both teams are on point offensively.
