Week 2: Ole Miss vs Central Arkansas 9/10/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Ole Miss Rebels and Central Arkansas Bears meet Saturday in a week 2 college football contest from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

The Central Arkansas Bears will look to rebound from a 27-14 loss to Missouri State to start the year. Will McElvain threw for 173 yards, a touchdown and a pair of interceptions on 18 of 31 passing while Darius Hale had 99 rushing yards and Jylin James had 84 rushing yards. Myles Butler had a team-high 6 receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown while Jarrod Barnes added 4 receptions for 48 yards as well in the loss.

The Ole Miss Rebels will look to build on their 28-10 win over Troy from their last matchup. Jaxson Dart has thrown for 154 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 66.7% passing while Zach Evans has rushed for a team-high 130 yards while Quinshon Judkins has 87 rushing yards as well this season. Michael Trigg also has a team-high 4 receptions for 33 yards this season. On defense, Tysheem Johnson has a team-high 12 total tackles while Troy Brown is right behind with 11 total tackles and Khari Coleman has a pair of sacks. Miles Battle has an interception for the Rebels as well this season.

Central Arkansas is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record. Ole Miss is 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss while the under is 8-0 in their last 8 games following a win.

I get that this is a lot of points to pass up with Central Arkansas here, but Central Arkansas is not like one of the FCS teams that comes up and is an upset special waiting to happen against an unsuspecting FBS foe. The Bears are usually the doormat of the FBS opposition and I think this is going to be no different. Lane Kiffin usually likes to run it up on lesser teams and with the Rebels looking to shake off some criticism for a bit of a disappointing showing against Troy, I think they get back on track with a big win and cover in this one.
