Week 3: Michigan vs UCONN 9/17/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Michigan Wolverines and UConn Huskies do battle, Saturday afternoon, in week 3 college football action from Michigan Stadium.

The UConn Huskies will be looking to rebound from a 48-14 loss to Syracuse last time out. Zion Turner has thrown for 373 yards, 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 57.1% passing while Nathan Carter has a team-high 384 rushing yards and a score this season. Aaron Turner also leads UConn’s receiving corps with 11 catches for 161 receiving yards and a score this year. On defense, Jackson Mitchell leads the Huskies with 39 total tackles including a team-high 18 solo tackles with 1.5 sacks as well and Brnadon Bouyer-Randle also has an interception as well this season.

The Michigan Wolverines will try to build on their 56-10 win over Hawaii last time out. J.J. McCarthy’s thrown for 259 yards and 3 touchdowns on 93.8% passing while Cade McNamara has thrown for 162 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 54.2% passing and Blake Corum has a team-high 164 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. Roman Wilson leads Michigan’s receiving group with 107 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Junior Colson has a team-high 12 total tackles while Rod Moore has an interception and the Michigan defense has a combined 8 sacks so far this season.

UConn is 17-36-2 ATS in their last 55 road games and 8-24-2 ATS in their last 34 games in September while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 games against the Big Ten. Michigan is 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 non-conference games.

I get the case to be made either way here, as UConn’s shown some signs of improvement while Michigan’s fully capable of a blowout. That being said, this still looks like an over to me and a one-sided Michigan win, it’s just a matter of how much the Huskies contribute, so rather than try to mess with the side here, I’ll back the over.
