LA-Monroe had a tough matchup in their opener versus Texas, falling 52-10. The Warhawks were able to get their first win in game two 35-7 over Nicholls State. Game three was another tough one against Alabama; that one turned into a 63-7 blowout loss.

On Saturday versus Louisiana, the Warhawks were down 17-7 going into the final quarter. LA-Monroe posted 14 points from there in a comeback win 21-17. QB Chandler Rogers had 192 yards with a pick, while Andrew Henry led the rush on 123 yards and a score from 11 carries.

Over on the Arkansas State side, they kicked off the year with a 58-3 blowout win over Grambling State. The Red Wolves fell in a blowout 45-12 to Ohio State in game two, then lost again in week three—this time 44-32 to Memphis.

Matched up against Old Dominion, the Red Wolves had a 12-0 lead at halftime but ended up with a 29-26 loss after a rough second half. QB James Blackman put up 285 yards with one TD and an INT, and AJ Mayer led the rushers with seven carries for 46 yards and a score.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Arkansas State. The Red Wolves really need a bounce-back effort here after a rough loss to Old Dominion, however. Arkansas State had 397 total yards with 22 first downs in their defeat, but also went a tepid 4-of-16 on third-down tries and gave away a couple of turnovers.

As for LA-Monroe, they gave away a couple of turnovers themselves and had just 15 first downs in the win over Louisiana. It was a nice comeback victory, but I think Arkansas State has a better shot at a cover in this matchup.
