Wyoming vs Fresno State 10/16/21 College Football Picks and Predictions

The Wyoming Cowboys meet the Fresno State Bulldogs in MWC Week 7 college football action from Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie on Saturday afternoon.

The Fresno State Bulldogs will look to bounce back from a 27-24 loss to Hawaii in their last game. Jake Haener has thrown for 2,230 yards, 18 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 69.5% passing while Ronnie Rivers has 420 rushing yards and 3 scores. Jalen Cropper leads Fresno State’s receivers with 44 grabs for 528 yards and 9 touchdowns while Josh Kelly’s got 461 receiving yards and Keric Wheatfall’s got 325 receiving yards this season. Two more receivers for Fresno State have 200+ receiving yards and another pair have at least 100 receiving yards this season. On defense, Evan Williams leads Fresno State with 39 total tackles while Kevin Atkins has a team-high 4.5 sacks and Arron Mosby has 3 sacks this season.

The Wyoming Cowboys will be out to rebound from a 24-14 loss at the hands of Air Force last time out. Sean Chambers has thrown for 893 yards, 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 54% passing while Xazavian Valladay has 436 rushing yards with 4 touchdowns and Titus Swen has 216 rushing yards. Isaiah Neyor and Ayden Eberhardt each have 200+ receiving yards for Wyoming’s receivers while Chad Muma leads Wyoming’s defense with 47 total tackles and Victor Jones has a team-high 3.5 sacks this season.

Fresno State is 19-8-1 ATS in their last 28 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference games while the under is 10-4 in their last 14 games in October. Wyoming is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a home underdog and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the under is 19-6-1 in their last 26 games as an underdog.

I get the allure of points with a home dog with a 4-1 record like Wyoming, but realistically, there’s a reason that the Cowboys are dogs at home. Fresno State’s been the better team with better competition and they also have 4 wins while the Cowboys lost to Air Force and struggled to put away UConn as 31.5-point favorites, and it’s hard to cover a line that big when you only score 24 points last I checked. I think that Fresno State just has the better offense, so I’ll lay it and play it with the Bulldogs and the low line here.
