St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs St. Lucia Kings

St. Lucia Kings will take on the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots for the 2021 CPL title on Wednesday September 15th, 2021. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00am EST.

Amidst all of the ups and downs St. Lucia Kings and St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have encountered this season, they have made it the final hurdle, but only one will get over the line of what has been a truly remarkable CPL 2021. This is shaping to be a truly thrilling match with both times capable of getting the win. Who has what it takes to win here and become the CPL champion?

St. Lucia Kings faced the Trinbago Knight Riders, a repeat of last year’s final, and completely dominated the defending champions by scoring 205 for 4 in their 20 overs on the back of a special knock by Mark Deyal which was worth 78. Roston Chase continued his impressive form with a solid 36, however, David Wiese (34) and Tim David (38) rocked the Trinbago Knight Riders in the last 5 overs of the innings to shift the match in their favor. David Wiese then returned with the ball to take 5 wickets in his 4 overs to spearhead the attack, accompanied admirably by Wahab Riaz with 2 wickets and Keemo Paul who took the final 2 wickets of the Trinbago Knight Riders’ innings to book themselves a final’s berth. This team has shown a lot of guile, resilience and tenacity to deem themselves worthy to be in the final against a strong team in the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots were simply outstanding against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the second Semi-Final, winning by 7 wickets with 13 balls to spear. Bowling first, the Patriots bowled in partnerships with 4 of their bowlers taking 2 wickets a piece. Jon-Russ Jaggesar and Fawad Ahmed were especially brilliant with impressive economy rates which were fewer than 6. When then asked to chase, Evin Lewis proved he is amongst the very best in T20 and specifically the CPL, scoring a blistering 77 of just 39 deliveries, he carried his bat through the innings to see his side home. Evin was ably assisted by Chris Gayle who scored 42 and Captain Dwayne Bravo who made 34. All season St. Kitts have played lights out and after their smashing start to the tournament, there’s no surprise we will be seeing them go head-to-head against the St. Lucia Kings.

St. Lucia Kings deserve all the plaudits for an amazing run and a brilliant display of team cohesion, but I have the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots winning the final based on home court advantage, Dwayne Bravo’s presence, his inspiration and experience that has gelled the team nicely together and the brute strength of their core players. Both teams have been outstanding so far this year and have a good chance here but St. Kitts have the overall stronger and more consistent time, as well as the fact that they have a number of match winners. St Lucia Kings have been much improved since a slow start and have momentum on their side, but they will ultimately lose a thriller here, as the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots become the 2021 CPL Champions!
