International Cricket: South Africa vs. Ireland 7/13/21 ODI Cricket Prediction

South Africa vs Ireland
July 13, 2021 9:00 am EDT

South Africa’s tour of the Ireland resumes on Tuesday July 13th, 2021 at 5:45am EST.

The first ODI match ended in a no result after rain interrupted play, at that stage, Ireland were 195 for 4 in 40.2 overs. With the series completely in the balance now, both teams will be eagerly anticipating Tuesday’s game to gain the advantage in the 3-match series.

Ireland will believe they were hard done by the weather after being a commanding position earlier today. William Porterfield (63) and Andy Balbirnie (65) compiled solid fifties with Mark Adair, who was now getting his stride, scoring 16 not out before the halt in proceedings. In the event that there is no hinderance in Tuesday’s clash, Ireland will be looking to emulate a similar batting display with the bowling also playing a major role through the likes of Craig Young, Josh Little and Simi Singh who will be integral in the Irish’s success. Ireland know what their assignment is as it relates to poll position in the current Odi ICC rankings, they just have to grasp the opportunities they are presented with.

South Africa are looking to gain Super League points and they are seeing this current series as the perfect opportunity. Although today took a massive hit with the second half of the match not being able to play, the Proteas will not lose sight of their goals with both bat and ball. David Miller, Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen to name a few, will find this tour as the perfect chance to get their batting averages up and rediscover some much needed form. From a bowling perspective, South Africa’s talisman Tabraiz Shamsi is expected to continue his rich vein form while Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi spearhead the bowling department at the top of the innings.

With everything hanging on a see-saw, who will conquer and who will plummet? Can Ireland bank on their experienced guys who have a plethora of match-winners? Will South Africa show that they are indeed the superior side in all 3 departments? If you ask me, South Africa will win Tuesday’s clash on share dominance on paper, Ireland would not cause enough of a threat to the Proteas.
