International Cricket: West Indies vs. Pakistan 7/28/21 T20 Cricket Prediction

West Indies vs Pakistan
July 28, 2021 10:00 am EDT

Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies starts tomorrow, Wednesday July 28th, 2021 at 10:00am EST with the first T20I match in the 4-match series being played at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

The series between Pakistan and West Indies was originally supposed to start today but due to the last series the Windies played Australia which got pushed back, this one will start tomorrow and will not feature four matches instead of the previously scheduled five. Pakistan have been in Barbados for a few days going through their paces and studying West Indies with a keen eye while West Indies are going into the series with a few of their players having little rest to recuperate.

West Indies blew Australia away in their T20 series 4-1, dominating in every area of the sport but with the fatigue of some of their players, namely Nicholas Pooran, Evin Lewis, Kieron Pollard, Sheldon Cottrell and Hayden Walsh Jr, they will need to be mentally prepared and well disciplined in order to be successful. Kieron Pollard, West Indies’ captain, has blasted the pitch at Kensington Oval saying it is “absolutely ridiculous” and unacceptable for international cricket”. Questions will be asked if the pitches produced are the reasons for the outcome or if it was just a poor batting display by the West Indian side. With all of that said, Windies should go into this series looking to add to their impressive run in the T20 format through effective application and assertiveness.

Pakistan recently played England in the T20 format and lost that series 2-1, very disappointing after they were the favorites right before the series started. They will be looking to grasp the new opportunities they are presented with come tomorrow, Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain has to be more consistent as his side rely heavily on him to produce with the bat alongside Mohammad Rizwan at the top of the order. Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan are the go-to guys when it comes to the bowling department, if Pakistan are to win this series, they will play a pivotal role in the team’s success. Can Pakistan put the last series behind them, put their head down and focus on the strengths and limit their weaknesses or will they face a similar fate this time to the hands of the Windies?

Challenges and setbacks have unfortunately hampered this series but the show will go on and it will be exciting. You never truly know what to expect from these two sides, they have been the two most unpredictable teams for well over a decade now but what we do know is that it will be a contest right until the end. West Indies are the more dominant team in this format but I expect Pakistan to take the go ahead lead due to Kensington’s pitch, the team’s rest and the vulnerability of the West Indies going into the first game.
