South Africa’s tour of the West Indies continues tomorrow with the fourth T20 fixture being played at St. George’s in Grenada. The match will start on Thursday July 1st, 2021 at 2:00pm EST.
South Africa lead the 5-match series 2-1 after a nail-biting finish against the West Indies, winning the third game by just 1 run. Again West Indies find themselves having to rethink their strategies going into tomorrow’s match if they are to have any chance of winning.
West Indies love to have their fan base with heart in hand, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory behind starts from their top 5 batsmen. Jason Holder was promoted to number 3 making 16, Lendl Simmons came into the side in the place of Andre Fletcher making 22 and Shimron Hetmyer replacing the Chris Gayle, making 17. However, when Nicholas Pooran lost his wicket in the 19th over after making 26, you just knew the game was out of the West Indies’ hands. Earlier in the day Obed McCoy bowled beautifully, taking 4 for 22 off his 4 overs, Dwayne Bravo took 3 wickets himself. West Indies need to apply themselves properly in all departments if they are to win tomorrow’s game and tie the series.
South Africa’s Quinton de Kock continued his stupendous form with a scintillating 72 at the top of the order and was ably assisted by Rassie van der Dussen with 32 and Aiden Markram with 23 which helped South Africa make 167 in their allotted 20 overs. They will believe that the game was too close for comfort, barely getting over the line. Tabraiz Shamsi was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 13 from his 4 overs, Anrich Nortje also took 2 wickets which aided in the restriction of the West Indies.
With the series on a rollercoaster ride, tomorrow’s game promises to be another thriller. South Africa however will steal the spoils, taking the game and winning the series. Both teams have been fairly evenly balanced throughout the series so far, but South Africa have remained cool and focused under pressure and have the advantage here. West Indies have a lot of explosive individuals that can be match winners but they have been misfiring lately. Expect a very close match, with the visitors South Africa winning and sealing the series.
