Fantasy Football News 9/11/13: Week 2 Key Matchups
Fantasy Football Daily: Week 2 Waiver Wire Names
September 11, 2013
With Week 1 in the rearview mirror (and for half of us, that’s a good thing), it’s time for fantasy football owners to start looking forward to the second game of the season. We’ve perused the schedule this weekend and come up with a handful of underutilized players who have favorable matchups which could lead to big numbers on the stat sheets. Let’s take a closer look and see if anyone’s right for your starting lineup.
Andre Roberts, WR, Arizona Cardinals: Larry Fitzgerald is still the man in Arizona, but Roberts’ game against the Rams turned a lot of heads. He finished with eight grabs (on nine targets) for 97 yards, but that’s not the most encouraging thing. Roberts made four of his eight catches on third down, which indicates that QB Carson Palmer already trusts him to come up big in the clutch. He’ll be looking Roberts’ way often when the Cardinals take on the Lions.

Brent Celek, TE, Philadelphia Eagles: Thanks to a big Monday night game against the Redskins, Celek has broken his way into the fantasy TE conversation. Chip Kelly’s new up-tempo offense debuted to great success, and Celek benefited with 56 yards and a score. He only caught two passes, but part of the reason for that is the fact that the Eagles were up big so early. He’ll be facing the Chargers at home this weekend, and San Diego is coming off allowing a huge game to mediocre TE Owen Daniels.
Knowshon Moreno, RB, Denver Broncos: Given his position in the offense, Moreno is slightly under-owned in most fantasy leagues. Considering the circumstances, he had a nice outing way back on Thursday against the Ravens, posting 65 total yards in a pass-heavy game. The Broncos will head to New York this weekend for an official Manning Bowl against the Giants, and this one is bound to be high-scoring. Moreno should get plenty of action as the main man in the backfield.
Cowboys Defense: The hottest D/ST off the waiver wire this week comes courtesy of the Cowboys, as they posted a huge game against the visiting Giants. Dallas hassled New York into six turnovers and managed a pair of defensive touchdowns, which is a complete turnaround from how they looked last season. The Cowboys head into a pretty good matchup against Kansas City this weekend, so they make a nice start.
Terrelle Pryor, QB, Oakland Raiders: In a deep league and looking to make a switch at QB? Pryor is your guy. He’s coming off a nice overall statistical game against the Colts, with 217 yards, one passing touchdown and 112 rush yards in the Raiders’ loss. Pryor will face Jacksonville at home this weekend, and let’s face it: the Jaguars are just awful. He makes a pretty good low-end start this week, or even a backup candidate in mid-sized leagues.
