Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Cameron, Murray and more
September 23, 2013
We saw plenty of interesting things in yesterday’s packed schedule of Week 3 action around the NFL, so there are plenty of topics to go over from a fantasy standpoint this morning. Let’s take a closer look at some of the noteworthy players out there who are making headlines right now, and we’ll try to get a feel for where they’re headed.
Jordan Cameron, TE, Cleveland Browns: No Trent Richardson, no problem. The Browns pulled off a big victory against the Vikings yesterday, thanks to the heroics of Cameron, who has quickly become one of the most buzz-worthy tight ends in fantasy. He posted three touchdowns and 66 yards on his half-dozen catches, giving him at least nine points in all three NFL weeks so far. Even with backup QB Brian Hoyer tossing him the ball, Cameron is an excellent play. He should be cemented into your lineup for this weekend against the Bengals.

David Wilson, RB, New York Giants: Wilson has been a hot topic of conversation in fantasy circles, which is unfortunate since all of those discussions have been about how horrible he’s been. He posted another ugly fantasy day yesterday against the Panthers, but to be fair he did have a TD and a big run called back due to penalties; otherwise we wouldn’t be discussing things from this angle. As it stands, Wilson finished with just 39 yards, sadly his best outing so far. The Giants are in a tailspin right now, so we can’t really recommend him for KC this weekend unless you’re desperate.
DeMarco Murray, RB, Dallas Cowboys: Murray cemented his status as a top-shelf fantasy producer yesterday against the Rams. He posted a great line: 26 carries for 175 yards and a score, and a trio of grabs for 28 more yards. The TD was his first of the season, and it was by far his best fantasy performance of 2013. The Cowboys will be heading into San Diego for a big matchup against the Chargers this week. We like Murray from here on out, but that doesn’t mean you can’t listen to a sell-high trade proposal from someone else in your league who likes him even more.
Antonio Brown, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers: Brown was one of the very few high points for the Steelers last night against the Bears, but thankfully stat lines are the only things that matter in fantasy. He got 13 targets during the game, hauling in nine of those for 196 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That gives him 324 yards on 20 grabs throughout the first three weeks. Brown and the sputtering Steelers head into an okay matchup in Week 4 against the likewise winless Vikings, and he makes a nice fantasy start for that one.
Texans RBs: Owners of Arian Foster and Ben Tate were once again miffed at the final stat lines from yesterday’s game against the Ravens. The pair shared a balanced load offensively, preventing either one from really shining. Foster finished with 12 carries for 52 yards; Tate, meanwhile, posted nine carries for 36 yards.
This has been the early story of the Texans backfield thus far. Neither player has distanced himself from the other, so we’ll likely see more of this as the year wears on. Next week against Seattle--which is a very tough matchup--you almost have to start Foster, but we’re none too encouraged about the possibilities.
