Now that Week 6 is officially in the books, it’s time for us fantasy owners to start looking forward to Week 7. Part of that preparation includes our weekly trip to the waiver wire to check out all the current trends out there. In this edition, we’re taking a look at wide receivers and tight ends. There are a handful of useful names making fantasy waves, so you should be able to pick up some bye-week or injury help if you’re in need. Let’s take a closer look.

Percy Harvin, WR, Seattle Seahawks: The hottest wide receiver on the waiver wire hasn’t played a down yet, and he’s not going to this week either. Still, anticipation is high on Harvin, who is inching ever-closer to a return following off-season hip surgery. Once he’s ready, he’ll immediately become the best receiver in Seattle, which is something they sorely need on the offensive side. If you’re interested and you have the room, Harvin is definitely worth a speculative add. Grab him before someone else does.

Harry Douglas, WR, Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons were on a bye during Week 6, so Douglas is a bit under the radar coming into the weekend. Even though he only posted six receiving yards in Week 5 against the Jets, his fantasy stock is on the rise due to injuries to both Roddy White and Julio Jones. It remains to be seen what the injury-depleted Falcons will look like when they hit the field again, but Douglas seems to figure into the passing game heavily.

Brandon LaFell, WR, Carolina Panthers: The Panthers seem like a different team from week to week, and LaFell is a part of that scenario. He’s coming off a big four-catch, 107-yard effort in Week 6 that yielded his third touchdown of the season. So far, he’s had two great games, one “meh” game and two complete stinkers. That’s hardly a recipe for confidence, but with the two great ones coming in the last three weeks, we’d say LaFell is on the way up. He makes a nice grab for this week against the Rams.

Heath Miller, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers: We’ve been singing Miller’s praises for a while around here, and he’s been responding with solid numbers from week to week (well, for the last couple of games, anyway). He’s coming off a nice six-reception, 84-yard day against the Jets. That was his best performance so far, and he keeps improving every week. If Miller is still unowned in your league, pick him up. He deserves at least a backup role.

Joseph Fauria, TE, Detroit Lions: The newcomer to the TE waiver wire is Fauria, who posted a whopping three touchdowns in the Lions’ big win over the Browns. The drawback? Those were his only three catches, as he posted just 34 yards on the day.
Here’s the deal: Fauria is strictly a red-zone guy, which makes him hit-or-miss in the fantasy market. If he manages to score at home against Cincinnati this week, he’ll make waves once again. If he doesn’t, he’ll probably get no points at all and you’ll be kicking yourself if you pick him up.
