Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Bengals-Dolphins, injury issues and more
November 1, 2013
November is here (already?) and with it comes the beginning of Week 9 in the NFL, as the Bengals and Dolphins got things started last night. There will be some crucial fantasy decisions to make in the coming days, so it’ll be important for owners to stay informed. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the noteworthy players out there and see what everyone’s up to. Here’s the latest.
Bengals-Dolphins Fantasy Notes: The wild “Thursday Night Football” matchup between the Bengals and Dolphins had some very real fantasy implications. Cameron Wake posted three sacks in a big performance for Miami’s defense, ending the game on a safety of all things. Lamar Miller (105 yards) and Mike Wallace (six receptions, 82 yards) were the notable Dolphins on offense.
For Cincinnati, Andy Dalton was a letdown after his huge outing in Week 8, coming up with 338 yards but no touchdowns. Giovani Bernard did the scoring, with two TDs on 79 yards. A.J. Green was his usual beastly self, with 11 receptions and 128 yards, while Marvin Jones had an okay-but-not-great fantasy outing with 66 yards on four grabs.

Roddy White, WR, Atlanta Falcons: White owners got some more bad news yesterday when the talented receiver missed out on another practice. He’s been out both days this week, and it’s not looking too good for this weekend against Carolina. White has missed the past two games with injuries to his hamstring and ankle.
Even if he were able to pull it together and get out on the field this weekend, the matchup isn’t great. The Panthers are very stingy toward opposing wide receivers, and a less-than optimum White wouldn’t make the best play.
C.J. Spiller, RB, Buffalo Bills: We’ve got some good news on Spiller this morning. There was some definite optimism coming out of Buffalo yesterday, and we’re getting a sense that his ankle could be well enough to play against the Chiefs this weekend.
Spiller’s ailing ankle has completely wrecked his fantasy value this season, and it kept him off the field against New Orleans this past week. That said, if he is able to play, the matchup against KC is really tough. If you have the luxury of benching him, we’d suggest looking elsewhere.
DeMarco Murray, RB, Dallas Cowboys: Speaking of running backs who sat out last week, Murray was in that category himself. His absence against Detroit was his second missed game in a row, but so far things are looking up for this weekend against the Vikings.
Murray has practiced both days so far, and has maintained thus far that he’ll be able to play when Minnesota comes to town on Sunday. He’s still a name that owners will have to watch as we get closer to the game, but if Murray is able to get on the field he’s got a great matchup.
Steve Johnson, WR, Buffalo Bills: We’ve had a lot of good things to say about Johnson this season, and we definitely like him as a fantasy play. Things won’t be that simple this weekend, however, as he’s dealing with a hip injury that’s threatened his availability for this weekend against the Chiefs.
For the record, Johnson was able to practice yesterday and will more than likely be able to play. Still, going up against a rough pass defense when you’re hobbled isn’t exactly a recipe for success.
