Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Bears-Packers, Rudolph and more
November 5, 2013
Now that Week 9 is officially over, we can start looking forward to Week 10, which begins in just two days. We’ve seen plenty of unbelievable things out on the football field over the past couple days, and we’re sure to get another dose of unpredictable action in the upcoming round of games. That said, let’s take a look at some of the noteworthy fantasy names and storylines out there so that we can try and determine what to expect in Week 10. Here’s the latest.
Bears-Packers Fantasy Notes: That sound you heard last night was millions of Aaron Rodgers owners around the world slapping their foreheads in disbelief. The talented Packers QB went down on the first series of the game against the Bears last night, the victim of a shoulder injury that would keep him out for the rest of the game--and lose countless fantasy matchups in the process. There’s no word yet on the exact nature of the injury, but there are fears he sustained a broken collarbone. You should probably start poking around the waiver wire if Rodgers is on your roster.
The usual suspects came through with some big numbers. Here’s a look at some of the notable performers:
Matt Forte: 125 rush yards, TD; 54 receiving yards
Eddie Lacy: 150 rush yards, TD
Brandon Marshall: 107 receiving yards, TD
Alshon Jeffery: 60 receiving yards, TD
Jordy Nelson: 67 receiving yards

Kyle Rudolph, TE, Minnesota Vikings: Bad news for Rudolph owners, and just when he was starting to show some signs of life on the stat sheet. His foot injury, sustained in Week 9 against the Cowboys, was determined to be a fracture, and he’ll be out for as much as a month.
The possibility exists that the Vikes could also put him on season-ending injured reserve, since there’s really no point in him rushing a comeback since their season is pretty much over. Owners in mid-sized leagues can probably just dump Rudolph now in favor of a healthy TE.
Andre Brown, RB, New York Giants: Brown has been out for the entire season so far, but by all indications is getting set to make his debut this week. He was given a package of plays to run at practice yesterday, and reportedly told to “be ready” for the Raiders game this weekend.
This is certainly a welcome development to owners who have been stashing Brown for just this occasion, and also for those trying to snag him off waivers. We’d imagine the Giants will ease him into action at first, though, so don’t expect a whole lot right off the bat.
Julius Thomas, TE, Denver Broncos: Thomas owners will have to keep a close watch on Thomas this week in practice, as they may have to visit the waiver wire this week. He was unable to practice yesterday, thanks to an injured ankle sustained in Week 8.
The good news here is that it’s not a serious injury--Thomas tweeted last week that his ailment wasn’t of the dreaded high-ankle variety--so it shouldn’t take him too long to recover. That said, it remains to be seen if the injury will affect his availability for the Broncos’ Week 10 game against San Diego.
