Fantasy Football Injury News for Week 10: Cutler, Richardson and More
November 9, 2013
It’s Saturday; that means it’s time once again to take a look at some of the significant injury concerns around the NFL and try to determine what they’ll mean to our fantasy teams. We’ve got the usual crop of notable names in today’s edition, so let’s get right to it and see if we can figure out what will be happening tomorrow. Here’s the latest.
Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears: Cutler has been a popular replacement option for owners of Aaron Rodgers (out for 4-6 weeks with a broken clavicle) and Tom Brady (on bye this week), but there have been some questions surrounding his health. Cutler has missed the past 1 ½ games due to a torn groin muscle, and just returned to practice this week.
The good news here is that he wasn’t limited yesterday, and he’s listed as probable for the game against the Lions this week. Whether or not he’ll be effective coming off the injury is another story; there have already been some questions about his throwing motion. He’s a solid--if risky--option.

Eddie Royal, WR, San Diego Chargers: Those fantasy owners wishing to cash in on the perceived pass-heavy shootout between the Chargers and the Broncos are having a bit of a dilemma with Royal. He’s been out of practice all week thanks to a toe injury, and is officially listed as questionable for the game.
That said, Royal has missed practices during the last two weeks, but was able to play (and score) in both subsequent games. We’d imagine he’s just following the formula. All the same, you’ll want to check and make sure he’s active for Denver.
Zac Stacy, RB, St. Louis Rams: Stacy is looking good for tomorrow’s game in Indianapolis. He was limited in practice earlier this week due to an ankle injury, but was able to return for a full session on Friday. He’s listed as probable on the report.
Stacy is a hot fantasy commodity right now, thanks to his back-to-back 100-plus-yard games and his two touchdowns last week. He’ll get a heavy workload against the Colts.
Trent Richardson, RB, Indianapolis Colts: Speaking of the Colts, they’ve got their own RB issues with Richardson. In addition to his performance concerns, owners have been hit with an ankle injury this week that had him out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday. The good news here is that Richardson was able to practice in full yesterday, but he’s sill listed as questionable on the injury report.
Owners will want to keep an eye on his status before game-time, but we would assume he’ll play. If not--or if he’s limited--look for Donald Brown to get quite a few reps.
Brandon Jacobs, RB, New York Giants: Don’t go dropping Peyton Hillis just yet. Jacobs has been listed as doubtful for the Giants’ home game against Oakland this week, after fighting off hamstring and knee issues that kept him out of practice yesterday.
Fortunately for New York, Andre Brown will be healthy enough to return this week, so he’ll split the workload with Hillis. Fantasy-wise, the whole thing’s a mess, but we’ll give the pair low-end starting consideration in this thin week.
