Fantasy Football News: Injury Update 11/23/13
Fantasy Football Injury News: Richardson, Rodgers and More
November 23, 2013
It’s Saturday, which means it’s time once again for us to check in on some of the injury situations in the world of fantasy football. We’ve got the usual batch of ailing players in the NFL headlines this morning, so let’s take a look at a few of the notable names and see if we can figure out what’s in store for tomorrow.
Trent Richardson, RB, Indianapolis Colts: Richardson has been dealing with a calf injury this week in practice, and it’s got him listed as questionable on the team’s injury report for the game against the Cardinals in Arizona tomorrow. The good news here is that the Colts coaching staff believes he’ll be ready to go by the time the game rolls around.
That said, Richardson has been putting up some supremely depressing fantasy numbers recently. He posted just 53 total yards on eight carries and five receptions last weekend against Tennessee, and probably won’t fare too much better tomorrow. His fantasy value is tanking each week.

Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers: Rodgers owners will have to wait a little bit longer before getting their Golden Boy back into the lineup. He’s officially been listed as out for the home game against the Vikings tomorrow, thanks to that broken collarbone he’s been recovering from ever since the Bears game a few weeks back.
As far as a hard return date or even a timeline, we don’t really have much of anything yet. There have been some rumors out there that say he could come back in time for the Thanksgiving game against the Lions next week, but that’s a pretty lofty goal at this point. Rodgers himself has said that he’ll need at least two consecutive days of practice before he’s ready to return. We think December 8 against the Falcons is a little more reasonable.
Nate Burleson, WR, Detroit Lions: Regular readers know we’ve been promoting Burleson as a potential sleeper pick this week--if he’s able to return from his forearm injury against the Buccaneers. It’s looking like that’s going to be the case, as he’s listed as probable for tomorrow’s game. He was able to partake in full practices Thursday and Friday.
Now, what exactly are we expecting out of Burleson? Well, he’ll likely be a solid contributor right off the bat, providing QB Matthew Stafford with another reliable target behind Megatron. He may not get a ton of work while he’s working himself back into the flow of things, but should provide a handful of fantasy points anyway.
Wes Welker, WR, Denver Broncos: Quick check-up on Welker--he’s listed as probable for the Broncos’ HUGE game against the Patriots (his former team) on Sunday night. He was able to pass all the league’s concussion protocols after sustaining a head/neck injury against the Chiefs last week.
Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings: After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, Peterson was back out there yesterday. He’s listed as questionable for the game in Green Bay tomorrow, but if we had to guess we’d say he’ll likely play. Be sure to double-check his status before game-time, though.
Peterson is dealing with a groin injury that severely impacted his performance last week.
