Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Reed, Brown and more
November 24, 2013
Get those fantasy lineups finalized; the NFL’s Week 12 resumes in just a few hours. It’s an important week around the league as well as within the fantasy world, as playoff hopes are being solidified--and dashed--with each scoring play. While we’re waiting for kickoff, let’s take a closer look at some of the notable players and situations affecting our lineups today. Here’s the latest.
Jordan Reed, TE, Washington Redskins: Make sure you get Reed out of your lineup this morning. He’s been ruled out for tomorrow’s game against the 49ers due to a concussion. He suffered the injury last week and was unable to participate in practice.
This is bad news for those fantasy owners who were planning on relying on Reed this week. A few possibilities for a last-minute pickup to fill in are Delanie Walker, Garrett Graham and Coby Fleener.

Antonio Brown, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers: One of the matchups we’re watching very closely today is that between Brown and Cleveland cornerback Joe Haden (who has been a recurring theme in this space over the past several weeks). Both guys are coming off big games in Week 11: Brown posted seven receptions for 147 yards and two touchdowns against Detroit; Haden put the clamps down on Cincinnati’s No. 1 WR A.J. Green, limiting him to just two catches and seven yards (and ruining countless fantasy weeks in the process).
Brown’s success depends on how much safety attention he gets. He may be able to use his size and strength to find a little space on short passes here and there, but probably won’t have a huge game. Instead, we’re envisioning some bumped-up numbers from some of the secondary players in the Pittsburgh offense: Heath Miller, Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery specifically.
Jordan Cameron, TE, Cleveland Browns: Let’s stick with the Steelers-Browns matchup for a moment and check out the other sideline. Cameron, who once was the fantasy standout among a few high-powered offensive players, has taken a complete nosedive recently. Over his last two games, he’s totaled only 33 yards on seven catches. It’s pretty clear he’s having chemistry issues with QB Jason Campbell--not to mention dealing with the extra attention from opposing defenses.
Pittsburgh will definitely be game-planning for Cameron, and they know full well how to deal with tight ends. They’ve contained every TE they’ve faced thus far--save Rob Gronkowski, who is in a league of his own--and will be all over Cameron. Owners should prepare for another disappointing outing.
Trent Richardson, RB, Indianapolis Colts: Richardson is listed as questionable for his team’s outing in Arizona today, so owners will have to keep an eye on the game-time inactives to see if he’s there. Even if he’s able to take the field, we could see another big outing from fellow RB Donald Brown.
Brown outperformed Richardson last week: he had 80 yards on 14 carries as opposed to 22 yards on eight rushes. The Colts aren’t ready to change things up just yet, at least not publicly. Richardson is still the lead dog, but may continue to be overshadowed by the change-of-pace Brown in the weeks to come.
