Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Gordon, Brown and more
November 25, 2013
Hopefully your fantasy team is in good shape heading into tonight’s 49ers-Redskins game. We’re coming down to the wire in most leagues’ regular seasons, so the victories are getting more and more precious as we near the playoffs. That said, let’s take our daily look around the world of fantasy football and check out some of the notable players out there. Here’s the latest.
Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns: One of yesterday’s most beastly performances belonged to Gordon. He is the new franchise record-holder for single-game receiving yardage, with 237 and a TD on 14 catches (which ties a franchise mark). It was his second huge game in a row, as he posted 125 and a score in Week 11.
We’ll have to see what becomes of Browns QB Jason Campbell who sustained a concussion during the game. If he’s out next week, it’ll have a detrimental effect on Gordon’s numbers.

Antonio Brown, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers: We’ll admit we were wrong about Brown this week. He went up against Cleveland’s Joe Haden yesterday, and promptly won the battle with 92 yards and a score on six catches. He now has four touchdowns in as many weeks, and has developed into one of the top-shelf fantasy receivers in the game. It’s a quick turnaround this week, as the Steelers will take on the Ravens on Thanksgiving.
Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers: During the first half against the Dolphins, Newton looked pretty awful. He posted just 100 passing yards, an interception and zero rush yards during the first two quarters, but came back strong after the break. He finished with 51 and a score on the ground, along with 174 and a TD in the air. That gives Newton five touchdowns in the past two weeks.
He’ll get another pretty sketchy defense next week when the Buccaneers come to town.
Matt Forte, RB, Chicago Bears: Things looked bad for Forte in the early-going against the Rams, but he ended up with an okay day. After losing an early fumble that would help put the Rams up 14-0, he ended up with 117 total yards and a touchdown. He’s now got two good fantasy performances under his belt after putting up that stinker against Detroit.
We’ll have to keep an eye on Forte in practice this week; he came out briefly yesterday due to an apparent knee issue.
Keenan Allen, WR, San Diego Chargers: After two weeks of sub-par performances, Allen broke back out against a stout Chiefs defense. He posted nine balls on 12 targets in Kansas City, resulting in 124 yards.
Although Allen didn’t get into the end zone, he still managed to have a great game. In his previous two starts, he’d posted a combined 86 yards on seven catches, so this is a promising sign. The Chargers are back at home next week against the Bengals.
