Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Reed, Stacy and more
November 30, 2013
Hopefully the Thanksgiving games didn’t put your fantasy team in too deep of a hole and you’ve still got a chance at winning during tomorrow’s round of NFL games. It’s the final week of the regular season in a lot of leagues, so the pressure is on to pull out a victory and keep the championship dream alive. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the notable fantasy names around the league and see what everyone’s been doing. Here’s the latest.
Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans: A couple weeks back, Johnson was looking like a top-shelf fantasy option once again. He fell off considerably last week, however, and is now something of a risky proposition heading into a Week 13 matchup against the Patriots.
Johnson had 382 yards and five touchdowns on 24 catches during a three-game stretch this month, but this past week against the Jags (which should have been a good matchup), QB Case Keenum took a major step back and was only able to connect with his No. 1 target twice for 36 yards. The New England matchup looming tomorrow is a little sketchy, as Johnson will draw CB Aqib Talib, who’s been pretty darn good at limiting his opponents. Still, Johnson’s not a player who will see your bench this week.

Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants: To start Manning or not to start Manning? That is the question. For those fantasy owners still waiting on Rodgers and combing the QB cast-offs out there, Manning could look like a pretty good option. He’s got a nice matchup this week against the Redskins, and could (finally) deliver some nice numbers.
Washington has allowed at least 20 fantasy points to their last two QB opponents, and should be pretty generous with the yardage. That said, Manning hasn’t exactly been able to step up when it comes to scoring. He’s coming off what should have been a great matchup against the Cowboys with just 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Okay numbers, but not great. Realistically, we expect more of the same tomorrow. He should perform adequately, just not spectacularly.
Zac Stacy, RB, St. Louis Rams: Good news for Stacy and his fantasy owners. He was ruled as probable yesterday, which means he’ll likely be good to go for tomorrow against the 49ers. He had sustained a concussion in Week 12 against the Bears, but not before racking up 97 total yards and a touchdown. In his last three appearances, Stacy has racked up 276 rush yards and four scores.
That said, things might not come so easily tomorrow. He’ll have to face a pretty stout 49ers defense, and the yardage won’t be as easy to come by. Still, he’s not too bad of an option, provided he gets the majority of the reps over Benny Cunningham.
Jordan Reed, TE, Washington Redskins: Reed owners will have to monitor his status all the way up until game time tomorrow against the Giants. Here’s the situation with him: he’s been limited in practice all week and is still dealing with the effects of his concussion (sustained a couple of weeks ago).
For the record, Reed believes he’ll play, but he’ll be a game-time decision regardless. Before getting hurt, he’d scored at least nine fantasy points in three out of the previous four weeks.
