Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Charles, McCoy and more
December 9, 2013
We’re knee-deep in the first round of the fantasy football playoffs in many leagues, and yesterday’s NFL action meant glory for half the teams out there--and misery for the rest. There’s still a chance for some miraculous comebacks with tonight’s game, so don’t lose hope just yet. In the meantime, let’s take a closer look at some of the noteworthy players and storylines out there in the fantasy world. Here’s the latest.
Rod Streater, WR, Oakland Raiders: We liked Streater as a sleeper start this week, and he made us look smart with a huge performance yesterday. He tallied a career-high 130 yards and a touchdown on seven catches against the Jets, with the vast majority coming in the second half. It wasn’t enough to get the win, though, and the Raiders added another L.
Streater will likely show up on waiver wire radars this week, and he’s not a bad play. He’s posted at least nine fantasy points in four of his last six outings.

LeSean McCoy, RB, Philadelphia Eagles: On a windy and snowy afternoon in Philadelphia, McCoy broke the Eagles’ single-game rushing yardage mark with 217 on the ground as Philly took care of the Lions. He also added a pair of touchdowns to make his fantasy owners very happy people this morning. The line continues a stellar run for McCoy, who has just gone crazy over the last five games or so. Odds are that he’ll keep it going; he’s got Minnesota this coming week.
Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington Redskins: On the flip-side of all that snowy action was Griffin, who was largely ineffective against Kansas City. He went just 12-of-26 for 164 yards, one TD and one pick as the Redskins were pretty much destroyed by the Chiefs. Griffin was replaced at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but his replacement Kirk Cousins wasn’t very good, either.
As for Griffin, he’s just been a mess at times this season, but he has shown flashes at times. There’s some hope on the horizon if your fantasy team can make it that long: the ‘Skins are in Atlanta next week.
Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs: While we’re on the subject of the Redskins-Chiefs game, let’s check out Charles, who was flat-out awesome once again. He posted a season-high 151 rush yards and a couple of touchdowns in another great on-field performance. Charles was yanked late in the game with the Chiefs comfortably ahead, but by then the damage had been done. Things are looking up for him next week as well; he’ll be in Oakland.
LaVon Brazill, WR, Indianapolis Colts: Who’s this guy? Brazill seemingly came from out of nowhere yesterday to post a big game in a loss against the Bengals. He managed three catches for 53 yards and a pair of touchdowns, endearing himself as one of the few reliable players in Indy’s loss yesterday.
Brazill will be surging on the waiver wire this week, and there have been a few indications that he’s an up-and-comer. He’s got three catches in each of the last three games, with totals of 35, 42 and now 53 yards respectively in those outings. The Colts host Houston this week.
