Daily Fantasy NBA 12/25/13: Matchup Plays and Value Picks
Fantasy Basketball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Today's Matchups
December 25, 2013
There are five games on the NBA schedule today, which makes a nice way to spend the holiday afternoon. We’ll also be seeing some prime fantasy basketball opportunities, as the big dogs in the league will be playing during the coming hours. That said, let’s take a closer look at some of the lower-end value picks and matchup plays for today’s games, just in case you need a sleeper option or two in your fantasy arsenal.
Jodie Meeks, SG, Los Angeles Lakers: Meeks has been making quite a bit of noise in the fantasy world recently, and for good reason. He’s coming off a loss against the Suns during which he posted 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals during a team-high 40 minutes of action. Meeks should continue to gain value in the short term at least, and a return from Jordan Farmar will help get some attention off of him. He’s a sneaky play with nice upside against the Heat today.

D.J. Augustin, PG, Chicago Bulls: Augustin had a great outing in his team’s victory over Cleveland the last time out. He logged a whopping 46 minutes and tallied 18 points, five rebounds, 10 assists and two steals in the win.
As long as Kirk Hinrich is hurting, Augustin has some solid fantasy value. He’s one of the only reserve players who’s actually producing right now, so he should endear himself to the Bulls coaching staff as a result. The Bulls are in Brooklyn today.
Jeremy Lin, PG, Houston Rockets: Lin’s return to the court after a four game absence (back) went pretty well. He played 37 minutes (which, we’d imagine was more than the Rockets intended) and posted 20 points, two rebounds and two assists.
We might see Houston dial it back on Lin a little bit today against San Antonio, but all things considered he should be just about back to his usual production levels.
Beno Udrih, PG, New York Knicks: Udrih isn’t anything to get excited about, but he’s worth a look to owners in need of PG help. Raymond Felton is ailing (again), and that means lots of extra minutes for Udrih. He’s capable of scoring in bunches, and we’ve seen a few flashes here and there from him.
We’re looking at a risk-reward situation here in fantasy, but Udrih should at least get enough minutes to be able to make something happen today at home against the Thunder.
Andray Blatche, PF/C, Brooklyn Nets: We’ve talked about Blatche on and off since Brook Lopez went down with his injury, and here he is again. He posted 26 minutes in his last outing against the Pacers and managed 11 points, seven rebounds and a pair of assists.
The fact that Blatche is coming off the bench might be enough to scare off some owners, but realistically he needs to be owned in just about every league out there. The Nets have few big-man options on their roster, and Blatche is outplaying pretty much all of them. He’s a reasonably good play today against the Bulls.
