Daily Fantasy NBA 1/8/14: Matchup Plays and Value Picks
Fantasy Basketball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
January 8, 2014
We’ll have 18 teams in action across the NBA this evening, which will bring about all sorts of interesting fantasy considerations. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at some of the noteworthy low-level plays and sleepers out there who can help your fantasy team to victory tonight.
Jodie Meeks, SG, Los Angeles Lakers: Meeks is one of the hotter pickups in fantasy right now, and for good reason. He’s been awesome over his last few games, culminating in a nice night against Dallas during his last outing (24 points, four rebounds, six assists and four steals).
If you can still get him, Meeks is probably the most prudent add right now. He’ll remain in the starting role barring a colossal downturn, but we don’t really see that happening. The Lakers are in Houston tonight.

Darren Collison, PG, Los Angeles Clippers: With Chris Paul out, Collison has had an opportunity to fill in the void. He’s certainly done that, most recently in a 21-point, seven-rebound, four-steal outing against Orlando a couple days back. He’s scored at least 20 in two of his last three.
Like Meeks, Collison is the de facto starter right now, and will cement that job with continued success on the court. The Clippers will face a winnable handful of games over the next week or so, so he’s a nice fantasy option.
Patrick Patterson, PF/C, Toronto Raptors: Get on the Patterson train early; He’s trending upward. During his last outing in Indianapolis yesterday, he came off the bench to put up 20 points and six rebounds, far outperforming most of the starters. We could see a lineup change very soon if this trend continues.
Patterson is worth a close look right now, especially if you’re in a mid-to-deep league. His minutes-load could see a significant increase in the coming days. The Raptors are back in Toronto tonight to face the Pistons.
Danny Granger, SF, Indiana Pacers: Let’s stick with that Raptors-Pacers game and take a look at Granger. He’s been regaining fantasy owners’ trust recently, and posted 13 points with six rebounds against Toronto. Better yet, he played 32 minutes, which was a season-high.
We don’t think anyone is completely convinced Granger can stay healthy, but he’s been off to a good start. He’s worth an optimistic look tonight against Atlanta, and could increase in value as the season progresses.
Gerald Green, SG/SF, Phoenix Suns: Even though the Suns lost last night, they’re still one of the hottest teams in the NBA. Likewise, Green has shown his fantasy value recently, and should still be on your radar. He put up 15 points and three rebounds against the Bulls, which was his third double-digit scoring effort in the last four games.
Green and the gang are one game into their five-game road trip--all featuring winnable matchups. He’ll be in Minnesota tonight, and should put up some serviceable fantasy numbers.
