Daily Fantasy NBA 1/15/14: Matchup Plays and Value Picks
Fantasy Basketball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
January 15, 2014
We’ve got a packed schedule of 12 games coming our way in the NBA tonight, so there will be plenty of fantasy happenings out there on the court. With that in mind, let’s take our daily look at some of the up-and-comers around the league who should be on your fantasy radar. If you need a sleeper or a trending pickup for tonight’s games, these guys should be on your list.
Ersan Ilyasova, SF/PF, Milwaukee Bucks: Let’s start things out today by looking at Ilyasova, who is burning up the waiver wire after a big game on Monday. He posted 29 points and nine rebounds in a loss against the Raptors, bouncing back after a relatively mediocre showing late last week.
We’ll be honest here: Ilyasova is pretty streaky, and he’ll burn you almost as much as he’ll carry you. That said, he’s got some huge upside, and if this is the makings of a streak, he’s definitely worth picking up for tonight against the Grizzlies.

John Henson, PF/C, Milwaukee Bucks: Let’s stick in Milwaukee for a moment and take a look at Henson. He burst onto the fantasy radar after returning from a seven-game absence (ankle) on Wednesday. Though he only played 17 minutes, he looked pretty good with eight points, four blocks and five rebounds.
Henson should remain a key part of the Bucks’ rotation between the PF and C positions, so he’s definitely a must-own in most fantasy leagues. He’s capable of putting up some very good numbers, so give him a look if he’s available.
Alec Burks, PG/SG, Utah Jazz: After a pretty limp start to the season, the Jazz have started to come on recently, and Burks has had a hand in that resurgence. He broke out a career-high 34 points on Monday, adding three rebounds and five assists in a big win over the Nuggets.
Interested parties will have to monitor the health of Gordon Hayward; Once he’s back up to speed, Burks’ minutes should fall off. That said, he’ll probably have some fantasy use at least through this upcoming three-game trip that starts in San Antonio tonight.
Terrence Jones, SF/PF, Houston Rockets: Jones has been making a lot of fantasy noise over his past handful of games. He was awesome in Boston on Monday, finishing with 12 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and three blocks in the win. That gives him two straight double-doubles and four in the last six games.
Jones’ value is at its apex right now, so now’s the time to ride with him in fantasy. He’s in New Orleans tonight, so don’t hesitate to slot him into your lineup if you have the luxury.
Al-Farouq Aminu, SF, New Orleans Pelicans: Aminu’s stats recently haven’t been much to get excited about, but there are some good signs attached to his name which make him a buy-low candidate. Even with the Pelicans completely banged up injury-wise, he’s still had some decent numbers over the past two games, with 33 points and 24 rebounds combined.
Aminu’s value should climb significantly once New Orleans gets healed up, but for now he’s a serviceable lower-end pickup who has a good chance to increase in value. Check him out for the Rockets game tonight.
