Daily Fantasy NBA 1/24/14: Matchup Plays and Value Picks
Fantasy Basketball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
January 24, 2014
There’s a super-heavy set of games in the NBA tonight (13, to be exact), so there will be fantasy basketball implications all over the place. With that in mind, let’s take our daily look at some of the trending players out there who could have big games this evening. If you’re looking for a rising star or a sleeper candidate, these should be some of the names on your list.
Derrick Williams, SF/PF, Sacramento Kings: Williams has been one of the hottest adds off the wire over the past day or so, thanks to his 22-point, 11-rebound effort against Houston on Thursday. He got some extra minutes with Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins going down with injuries, so depending on their statuses going forward, he could make a great play in fantasy.
Williams is a speculative add and more of a stopgap-type at the moment; Once Cousins and Gay are back to full health, his minutes will return to normal. That said, he’ll probably play quite a bit tonight against the Pacers regardless.

Greivis Vasquez, PG/SG, Toronto Raptors: Vasquez has been hot over the past few games, and that trend continued on Thursday evening. He put up 17 points, seven assists, three steals and two assists against Dallas, which was his third consecutive outing with double-digit points.
Best of all, Vasquez’s minutes keep going up, so as long as he’s playing well we’ll see him on the floor as a regular. Some of his teammates just aren’t scoring right now, so expect a good chunk of floor time tonight in Philly.
D.J. Augustin, PG, Chicago Bulls: By now, just about everyone has tuned in to Augustin’s rise to prominence in Chicago. He’s been sizzling over his last two games, scoring 27 points in each with a combined 10 made threes, nine rebounds and 11 assists. He’s scored at least 16 in his last five outings.
Expect the outside shooting barrage to continue tonight against the Clippers. If for some reason Augustin isn’t owned in your league, jump on him right now and put him into your starting lineup.
Josh McRoberts, PF, Charlotte Bobcats: McRoberts has some nice value in fantasy right now, and perspective owners in need of a lift should look his way. He’s scored in double-digits during each of his last five outings, with at least two made three-pointers in every one of those games. You’ll also get a handful of rebounds and assists here, which helps quite a bit as well.
Tonight, McRoberts and company will face a sputtering Knicks team that can’t do anything right on defense right now. If there’s ever a matchup play, this is it.
Caron Butler, SF, Milwaukee Bucks: The Bucks have been downright dreadful in 2014 so far, but Butler is worth a look as a diamond in the rough. He’s coming off a nice outing against the Pistons, with 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists in Milwaukee’s first win of the year.
We’ll have to see if the streaky Butler can maintain any sort of production tonight in Cleveland, but if he does it’s a good sign he’s found a hot streak and is worth kicking the tires on.
