There’s a heavy dose of NBA games on the schedule today, which means we’ll be seeing all sorts of fantasy action in the coming hours. With that in mind, let’s take our daily look at some of the potential breakout players in tonight’s games that you can get on the cheap. If you’re looking for a sleeper or a matchup play, here’s where to start.

Ronny Turiaf, PF/C, Minnesota Timberwolves: Turiaf is a relative newcomer to the waiver wire radar, and he’s one of the top trends out there right now. On Monday night, he came on for the injured Nikola Pekovic (Achilles) and performed nicely, with 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
As long as Pekovic is sidelined, Turiaf makes a nice fantasy play. Owners in just about every league should give him a look; He’ll provide pretty good points and blocks numbers in the short term, starting tonight against New Orleans.

DeMarre Carroll, SF/PF, Atlanta Hawks: Carroll got the unenviable job of guarding Kevin Durant on Monday night, and despite the 41 points, he didn’t do too bad of a job. He also came up with 15 points, three rebounds and a nice five steals in the process. That gives him double-digit scoring in his last five straight appearances.
Carroll is an appealing target regardless of your fantasy league size, so if he’s still out there you should at least give him a long look. He’s at home against the Pistons tonight.

Terrence Ross, SG/SF, Toronto Raptors: Ross exploded onto the fantasy radar this past weekend with a thrilling 51-point performance against the Clippers. He followed that up with a still-productive 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a block against Brooklyn on Monday.
DeMar Rozan will eventually come back and affect Ross’ minutes and production, but for now he’s definitely worth owning just about everywhere. As an added bonus, he gets a nice matchup against the Magic tonight.

Markieff Morris, PF/C, Phoenix Suns: Morris is riding high on the waiver wire trends list with a great defensive performance on Monday. He put up a season-high (tie) four blocks against Philadelphia, helping the Suns bag another win. Rounding out his evening were 13 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Don’t expect Morris to contribute blocks on a regular basis, but rather consider them a nice bonus when they come. He’s more likely to deliver 20-ish points and a handful of other stats on a nightly basis while he’s hot; definitely worth a look.

Jason Thompson, PF/C, Sacramento Kings: The injury-wrecked Kings are relying on Thompson quite a bit lately, and he’s been delivering the stats. He’s coming off a 19-point, 11-rebound outing on Monday against Utah, which gives him three double-doubles in his last six games.
Thompson is likely just a temporary fantasy fix, but while he’s getting the minutes and contributing at a high level, there’s no reason not to pick him up in fantasy. He gets Memphis tonight.
