Daily Fantasy MLB 5/19/14: Matchup Plays and Value Picks
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
May 19, 2014
It’s Monday, and in the fantasy baseball world that means it’s time once again to readjust your lineups for the upcoming series in the MLB. We’re here to help with that in our daily outlook, so let’s take a glance at some of the trending players who could give your roster a boost today and beyond.
A.J. Pollock, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks: There’s a lot to like about Pollock right now. His big breakout came on Saturday, when he belted a homer among his four hits against the Dodgers, adding three runs, two RBI and a steal. He had three more hits yesterday.
The Diamondbacks aren’t going to blow anyone’s doors off, in fantasy or otherwise, but Pollock has been too consistent to ignore. If he can get more shots atop the lineup on that roster, he’s definitely worth checking out.

Dallas Keuchel, SP/RP, Houston Astros: Let’s move on to the SP portion of our programming today and check out Keuchel. He was a hot pickup over the weekend, thanks to his showings during his most recent two starts. In that span, he’s allowed just two earned runs on 13 hits and is 2-0.
Keuchel is coming off a complete game shutout of the Rangers. He won’t do that again in Los Angeles (Angels) today, but should pitch well enough to warrant your attention.
Danny Duffy, SP/RP, Kansas City Royals: Let’s double-dip in the pitching department today as we check out Duffy. He turned a lot of heads in his most recent outing, going seven innings against the Orioles and allowing just two hits while striking out a pair.
Duffy has two wins and a 1.42 ERA with a 0.42 WHIP to his credit so far. Coincidentally, he’ll also face the Angels in his next time up, which won’t be until this White Sox series is over. You’ve got a few days to kick the tires.
Kolten Wong, 2B, St. Louis Cardinals: Remember Kolten Wong? He was supposed to be a big-time breakout candidate at 2B in fantasy this season, but didn’t start out so well, he consequently got booted to Triple-A, where he got his swing back again. In his first two games back, he posted four hits, three runs and two steals. He had a hit and three RBI yesterday.
Wong is still something of a work-in-progress, and mostly an optimist’s play right now. Still, if you believed in him before there’s no reason to stop, especially at such a tough fantasy position.
Drew Stubbs, OF, Colorado Rockies: We’ve checked out Stubbs a couple of times over the past week or so, as he’s made quite an impression. In three games heading into yesterday’s finale against the Padres, he had six hits, three runs, a homer, two RBI and two steals. He had another hit yesterday.
As long as Stubbs keeps hitting, he’ll keep getting playing time. As long as he keeps getting playing time, he should be a fantasy consideration for those owners seeking outfield depth.
