Fantasy Football Injury News: Week 8 Outlook on Ailing Players
October 25, 2014
It’s Saturday, and you know what that means: time for another checkup on the injuries to all the notable fantasy football players out there. We’ve got our usual roundup of big names mixed in here today, so let’s take a closer look at each situation and see if we can figure out what to be expecting from our rosters this week.
Well, it’s official. The Colts’ veteran WR Reggie Wayne will be sitting out in Week 8 against the Steelers. The team made the announcement yesterday.
Wayne is dealing with an elbow injury, suffered during last week’s clash against the Bengals. He’s been something of a letdown in fantasy thus far, even when healthy.

Make sure you’re not relying on the Ravens’ Owen Daniels this week. He’s out of action due to a knee procedure, a development that surprised the fantasy community.
It’s unfortunate, as Daniels was just starting to show flashes of fantasy value.
DeAngelo Williams failed to practice all week and has been ruled out for tomorrow’s home game against the Seahawks.
Toby Gerhart has been listed as probable for the Jaguars’ Week 8 game against the Dolphins. He’s missed out on the last two weeks with a foot injury. His presence now throws the Jacksonville backfield into a state of flux.
The Colts’ Trent Richardson has been deemed questionable due to his hamstring injury. That could mean some extra reps for Ahmad Bradshaw.
The Titans’ Shonne Green is probable for tomorrow’s game against Houston. He’s missed out on the last two weeks due to a hamstring issue.
We’ll have to wait and see how the Titans decide to divvy up carries here, but this development puts Bishop Sankey’s fantasy relevance into question.
There were some promising rumors surrounding the Bengals’ A.J. Green and his playing status this week, but it’s looking like that was just wishful thinking. The uber-WR missed out on a whole week’s worth of practice and has officially been ruled as doubtful for tomorrow against Baltimore.
With Green likely gone, you can expect the Cincinnati offense to struggle once again.
No surprise here, but the Bills’ Fred Jackson has been ruled out due to a groin injury. His team will face the Jets tomorrow.
Jackson will likely need at least another game of rest, so you can consider him questionable for next week already.
There aren’t too many fantasy teams out there relying on Jake Locker, but for what it’s worth he put in a full day of practice yesterday. He’s probable for tomorrow’s game against the Texans.
That said, Tennessee will be starting backup Zach Mettenberger as it appears they’ve already reached “phone it in” mode on their season. Should be a big day for the Texans defense.
