Fantasy Football 2014: Week 12 Key Matchups
Taking a Look at the Favorable Week 12 Matchups in Fantasy
November 19, 2014
With all the injuries happening in the world of fantasy football last week--not to mention the fact that the playoffs are just around the corner--owners are in a tailspin considering what to do to salvage the remainder of their seasons. We’ll try to lend a hand this morning by checking out some of the shrewd matchup plays out there that just might be able to put you over the top this weekend. Here’s a closer look at a few widely available players and the numbers behind them.
Kansas City Chiefs Defense: If you’re into stringing defenses, the Chiefs are a pretty good call this week. They’ve got the lowly Oakland offense on tap for Sunday, and should be able to handle the load there.
The Chiefs have posted double-digit fantasy points--including a 19-point gem against the Rams--in two of the last four weeks, and should do well if they can get their pass rush going.

Tre Mason, RB, St. Louis Rams: It appears we’re finally getting a bit of clarity in the Rams’ backfield. Mason is coming off a stellar performance against a stout Denver rush defense, posting 29 attempts for 113 yards.
If you can get him, Mason has a nice-looking schedule down the stretch. He’ll be in San Diego this weekend, then Oakland comes to town, then after that it’s off to DC to see the Redskins. If he can keep it going, he could pay off handsomely.
Kenny Stills, WR, New Orleans Saints: With Brandin Cooks out due to a broken thumb, Stills gets an up-tick in value for the next 2-4 weeks. He’s been playing well recently, logging 21 grabs and two scores in the last five games.
Stills gets a decent matchup this weekend at home against Baltimore, and looking ahead has a handful of other nice-looking games as the season winds down. He’s definitely a consideration for the WR-needy.
Charles Sims, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Sims hasn’t done much when it comes to fantasy scoring so far in his first two NFL games, but he’s trending in the right direction. The good news is that he played 33 of 52 snaps against the Redskins, ultimately resulting in a win for the Bucs.
Sims and company will head to Chicago this weekend, and though the Bears defense showed some improvement last week, they’re still pretty far removed from the lights-out squads of yesteryear. Sims should be a consideration for at least a flex spot this week.
Larry Donnell, TE, New York Giants: If you’ve been sitting on Donnell for a while, now’s the time to whip him out and stick him in our lineup. Not only is he coming off an 11.4-point fantasy performance against the 49ers (three grabs; 54 yards and a TD), but he’s heading into a Week 12 matchup against the Cowboys, who are giving up the third-most fantasy points in the league to opposing tight ends. Expect the entire New York team to be up for this one.
