Fantasy Football News: Injury Update 12/20/14
Taking a Look at the Ailing Players Heading into Week 16
December 20, 2014
It’s Saturday in NFL Week 16, and that means it’s time once again to check out some of the key injuries out there in the fantasy football world. We’ve got some important ailing players heading into championship (or semifinals) week, so with that said let’s check out the statuses of some of the big names out there.
The Panthers’ Cam Newton is listed as probable for this weekend against the Browns, which is good news for Carolina. Newton is getting over a back injury sustained in a car accident. If he’s going to go, doctors will officially clear him today.

In other Panthers news, RB DeAngelo Williams was ruled as questionable for the game, and owners should err on the side of him not playing this weekend. He’s having trouble pass blocking with the cast protecting his broken hand, which means Jonathan Stewart will likely get the start here.
The Bills’ C.J. Spiller has been added to the Bills’ 53-man roster and will be probable heading into tomorrow’s game against the Raiders. He’s been out since October 19 after breaking his collarbone.
Down in Atlanta, the Falcons’ Julio Jones was out of action during yesterday’s practice, leaving him questionable for tomorrow against the Saints. He hasn’t been on the practice field since before Week 14 when he sustained a hip injury.
Jones will try to test his hip today, and if it doesn’t look good that means more work for Harry Douglas.
The Cowboys’ DeMarco Murray, who has been the most-watched injury situation this week is officially questionable for tomorrow’s game against the Colts.
As more time goes by since Murray’s surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand (that procedure was Monday), the team seems to get more and more optimistic about Murray’s chances of playing. He’ll be one you have to watch before kickoff; if Murray can’t go, it’ll be Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar.
One note here: Murray has been medically cleared, and it’ll reportedly be his prerogative whether or not he can play.
The Dolphins put TE Charles Clay on the injury report as questionable due to issues with his hamstring and knee.
The Colts’ T.Y. Hilton missed out on practice yesterday dur to his hamstring injury. He was not able to practice at all this week.
Peyton Manning reportedly had a very good day of practice yesterday, so there’s not a whole lot of concern about his thigh injury heading into this week.
