Fantasy Football Injury News: Week 17 Outlook on Ailing Players
December 27, 2014
Tomorrow marks the final week of the 2014 NFL season, and also the championship in 17-week fantasy football leagues. Before we get those lineups set, let’s take our weekly look at the notable injury situations out there and see what we can be expecting from the big-name players in this final week.
If you’ve got the Steelers defense going in Week 17 against the Bengals (which doesn’t seem to be a bad play), you’ll want to know that they’ve got a couple of questionable designations heading into the big matchup.
Both Troy Polamalu (knee) and Ike Taylor are 50-50 at taking the field today, which could have a big effect on the team’s pass defense.

Now off to the Broncos. Emmanuel Sanders is questionable with that hip injury, while RB C.J. Anderson, RB Ronnie Hillman, QB Peyton Manning, TE Julius Thomas, WR Demaryius Thomas and RB Juwan Thompson are all probable.
That’s good news, but it’s tough telling how long any of those guys will be playing, so it’ll be a tough call dependent on your roster.
The Falcons have a couple of notable probable designations in fantasy this week. Both Steven Jackson and Julio Jones share that tag, while Roddy White and Harry Douglas are probable.
This is a very important game for the Falcons (against the Panthers), as the winner will get the division and the playoff spot. It’s a good spot to mine for fantasy gold, as the key players will be out on the field for the long haul.
The Patriots will be toting out a few notable players as questionable in their finale against the Bills tomorrow. Those players include LeGarrette Blount, Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell and Shane Vereen.
Given the fact that this is something of a meaningless game when it comes to improving playoff situations, we doubt the stars will put in an entire workday here.
Let’s check out the notables on the Chargers injury report. Ryan Mathews has been ruled out of action for the game in Kansas City, while Keenan Allen is doubtful.
QB Philip Rivers will be probable here and should be good to go. If San Diego can pull out a win here, they’ll eke into the playoffs, so it’s a very important matchup.
QB Robert Griffin III is probable for the Cowboys game.
Good news for those with Dolphins players on their fantasy rosters. TE Charles Clay, RB Daniel Thomas and WR Mike Wallace are all probable for the finale against the Jets.
Cowboys RB Demarco Murray left with the flu on Thursday, but was back in action yesterday for a full session. He’s probable for tomorrow. QB Tony Romo is also probable for the game.
