Fantasy Hockey 2014-15: Sleeper Picks 1/3/15
Fantasy Hockey Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Today's Matchups
January 3, 2015
We’re coming off a pretty busy evening of action in the NHL, and we’ve got a heavy set of games on the way today. That makes it a perfect time to check out some of the notable sleeper pickups in the world of fantasy hockey, so that owners can peruse the selection of new blood heading into the week. Let’s check out some of the recent numbers and see who’s right for your team.
Carl Soderberg, C/LW, Boston Bruins: We’ve been checking out Soderberg quite a bit this week, as he’s coming off a pair of really nice games. In his last two outings, he’s collected a pair of goals and three assists
That gives Soderberg eight scores and 20 helpers on the season, and he’s also got a plus-9 rating. He only gets a couple shots on goal per game usually, but the assists should keep trickling in. pick him up while you still can.

Kevin Connauton, D, Columbus Blue Jackets: The Jackets aren’t quite where they need to be just yet, but Connauton is providing some hope for their immediate future. He’s been cruising over his past two outings, logging two goals and three assists while collecting a plus-4 rating.
Connauton has five scores and nine helpers on the season and has been quite a blessing for Columbus. As long as they keep giving him opportunities, he should keep producing.
Colin Wilson, C/LW, Nashville Predators: Wilson whiffed in his last appearance on Dec. 30 against the Blues, but had five shots on goal in the 3-2 win. In his four games before that, however, he managed four goals and three assists.
Wilson is proving he’s over his injury issues and has given some life to the Predators’ offensive attack. He gets a couple of tricky west-coast games this weekend but will return to Nashville later in the week.
Loui Eriksson, LW/RW, Boston Bruins: Let’s head back to the Bruins and check out Eriksson, who is a pretty trendy player in fantasy right now. He has three assists and a plus-4 rating in his last two games alone, adding to a nine-goal, 15-assist, plus-11 rating so far this year.
Eriksson has been a lynchpin in the Bruins offense, and it looks like they’re relying on him more and more. He’ll get Ottawa at home today before heading to Carolina tomorrow.
Derek Stepan, C, New York Rangers: If you’re not using Stepan in your league right now, you’re nuts. He’s been on fire over the past seven games, posting four goals and seven assists in that frame.
Stepan has 19 assists, six goals and a plus-8 rating on the season so far. If he can keep it up, we see very good things for his fantasy owners. The downside here is that a tough West road swing follows the Buffalo game tonight.
