Fantasy Baseball Update 6/1/15: Key Matchups Early This Week
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
June 1, 2015
It’s Monday, and for us fantasy baseball owners that means it’s time to start looking forward to the upcoming series around the MLB that will get going today. Within those games lie a few notable waiver wire pickups who could make quite a difference on your roster, so let’s check out some of the current trends and see which players are popular adds right now.
Ryan Vogelsong, SP, San Francisco Giants: Vogelsong leads off our list today, since he’s being added at a solid clip these past couple of weeks. He’s coming off a six-inning win in Milwaukee where he yielded six hits and struck out five.
Vogelsong is 4-0 in his last five appearances and hasn’t allowed more than two earned in any start in that span (and he did that just once). He’s red hot going into the Pirates series today.

Yasmani Grandal, C/1B, Los Angeles Dodgers: Grandal came fresh off the disabled list (concussion) this weekend to go 1-for-3 against the Cards and ding a homer with three RBI. He came up empty yesterday, though.
Grandal seems like he’s A-OK after his injury, and he’s a nice-looking add for those owners who need a catcher. He’ll head to the rare air of Colorado starting today.
Jaime Garcia, SP, St. Louis Cardinals: Let’s get back to the mound for a moment and check out Garcia. He earned his first win of the season in his last outing, allowing three earned on eight hits against the D-Backs.
Garcia has two starts under his belt now, and seems like he’s healthy. He’ll get another shot today as the Brewers come to town.
Chris Colabello, 1B/OF, Toronto Blue Jays: Colabello posted another hit and a run yesterday, adding to his lengthy hitting streak. In the Minnesota series, he logged three hits, two runs, a homer and two RBI.
Colabello hasn’t necessarily been posting eye-popping numbers, but he’s been one of the more consistent waiver-level players out there. He’s a nice pickup heading into the Washington games.
Billy Burns, OF, Oakland Athletics: Burns is hot as a fantasy pickup right now, coming off a three-hit game in the Sunday finale against the Yankees that produced two runs and two stolen bases.
That gives Burns four multi-hit games in a row, resulting in six runs and a solo homer. He’s working on a six-game hit streak all together. Pretty good stuff; look him up for the Detroit series.
