Daily Fantasy Baseball – High Cost / Value Picks – 6/10/15 (Late Games)

Here is my lineup for tonight’s games. Please note that I’m using the salary cap based on FanDuel prices.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice – 6/10 (Late Games)

Also, as this is written the day before/morning of the games, please check the lineups and weather to ensure you have all active players going tonight!

Pitcher – Trevor Bauer – Cleveland Indians

I was expecting more last night from Corey Kluber, especially in terms of strikeouts, however the Seattle Mariners did a great job battling and defeating one of the hottest pitchers in the league as of late. Even though Seattle looked decent last night, I’m banking that they return to their struggles at the plate so far in 2015, Seattle is ranked 2nd in total strikeouts and dead last in average (.230) against right-handed pitchers. Trevor Bauer has put up a solid 2015 season to date posting a 2.94 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP and has 70 strikeouts in 70.1 IP. Bauer can sometimes have control issues, but has been pretty consistent throughout the season and as he has reached 10 K’s in multiple outings this season (including his recent start at Seattle on 5/29), I think Bauer is a solid play tonight.

Catcher – Yasmani Grandal – Los Angeles Dodgers

Yasmani Grandal is only hitting .217 over the past week and although his average has dropped to .275 on the season, the switch hitting catcher does have 5 homeruns and 20 RBI’s on the season. Grandal has a great matchup against Jeremy Hellickson tonight in which in his limited experience against the right-hander, has gone 2 for 2 with a double. Hellickson doesn’t have anything that is that overwhelming and has been getting crushed by LHB all seasons as he has allowed LHB to have a .340 average and .987 OPS against him. As all of Grandal’s homeruns and RBI’s have come against righties on the season, he is solid play for the price tonight.

First Base – Mike Napoli – Boston Red Sox

Mike Napoli is only hitting .213 on the season to date however, the slugging first baseman does have 9 homeruns and 24 RBI’s on the season and has a decent match-up against the left-handed Wei-Yin Chen of the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. In his career against the left-hander, Napoli is hitting just .238 (5-21), however, three of those five hits have been for homeruns. Napoli has a .848 OPS and has hit 4 homeruns in 56 AB’s against lefties on the season and as Chen has given up 10 homeruns already on the season to just RHB, I’m hoping Napoli can take one out of Camden Yards tonight.

Second Base – Dustin Pedroia – Boston Red Sox

I’m going to stay at Camden Yards and go with the scrappy second baseman, Dustin Pedroia  as not only has the “Laser Show” been on fire as of late, he has had a great history against Wei-Yin Chen. Pedroia is hitting .464 over the past week and is now hitting .309 on the season with 8 homeruns and 23 RBI’s. In his career against the left-handed Chen, Pedroia has a .469 (15-32) average and a 1.202 OPS. In his last three seasons Pedroia has hit .303 against Baltimore and .295 at Camden Yards and I wouldn’t be surprise to see Pedroia rack up 2-3 hits tonight.

Shortstop – Carlos Correra – Houston Astros

Yesterday I stated “I don’t imagine it will be very long that we will be able to get a player of Correra’s talent at the lowest price possible for the position and I’m going to jump all over this bargain while I can.” Well, the good news was I was all over Correra last night as in his 2nd MLB game he went 2 for 4 with a homerun, 2 RBI’s and a SB. The bad news is that his price tag jumped from $2200 to $2700 overnight. Even though the price has gone up, Correra is still the best option for the price at a very think SS position and with Correra facing another left-handed pitcher in Jose Quintana of the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, I’m going to continue to roll with the former #1 draft-pick without hesitation while his price tag stays below $3000.

Third Base – Mike Moustakas – Kansas City Royals

I keep telling myself that I’m not going to Mike Moustakas on the principle that I’ve taken him probably more than any other player this season, however, as his price tag reminds dirt cheap, and he has another favorable matchup against Kyle Gibson of the Minnesota Twins that has trouble striking people out, I’m going with Moustakas once again. Moustakas is hitting .319 on the season with 5 homeruns and 19 RBI’s and has a solid .828 OPS. In his career against Kyle Gibson, Moustakas has a .385 (5-13) average and .967 OPS. Moustakas is hitting .338 against right-handed pitchers and for the $2400 price-tag, he once again has great value today.

Outfield – Andre Ethier – Los Angeles Dodgers

The Daily Fantasy Sites have finally caught on to how well Andre Ethier has performed against right-handed pitching on the season and although his price tag is up to $3000 on FanDuel tonight, I’m still going to roll with him. Andre Ethier is hitting .286 on the season with 8 homeruns and 26 RBI’s and basically all his damage has come against right-handed pitching on the season in which he has also posted a great .925 OPS. Ethier will be facing Jeremy Hellickson of the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight, which although he is just 1 for 4 in his lifetime against, as I mentioned in Yasmani Grandal’s write-up above, Hellickson is allowing LHB to hit .340 against him on the season.

Outfield – Ryan Braun – Milwaukee Brewers

Ryan Braun is hitting just .264 on the season but does have 13 homeruns and 40 RBI’s as of Wednesday and has been hitting .333 over the past week. Braun has a great matchup against the right-handed Charlie Morton of the Pittsburgh Pirates in which he has posted a career .444 (8-18) average and 1.302 OPS (3 doubles, 1 homerun). Braun has actually been better against righties on the season as he has posted a .889 OPS against right-handed pitchers compared to a .646 OPS against lefties. Over his last three seasons, Braun has hit .304 (49-161) against the Pirates and although he is hitting at PNC park tonight, I think the career .305 hitter could be in for a big game.

Outfield – A.J. Pollock – Arizona Diamondbacks

A.J. Pollock is having an outstanding season hitting .320 with 7 homeruns and 27 RBI’s and although his price tag is a bit high, I really like his matchup against the left-handed Brett Anderson of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night. Pollock is just 2 for 9 in his lifetime against Anderson, however on the season Pollock has a .396 average and an incredible 1.057 OPS against left-handed pitching. Over the past week Pollock is hitting .360 with 4 doubles, a homerun, and 5 RBI’s and I expect his success to continue tonight.
