Daily Fantasy Baseball – 6/15/15
Here is my lineup for tonight’s games. Please note that I’m using the salary cap based on FanDuel prices.
USA TODAY Sports
Also, as this is written the day before/morning of the games, please check the lineups and weather to ensure you have all active players going tonight!
Pitcher – Trevor Bauer – Cleveland Indians
Trevor Bauer is having a great sophomore campaign so far in 2015 and although he can have control problems from time to time, the right-hander has still posted a solid 3.53 ERA and has 75 strikeouts in 74.0 IP. Bauer has a 1.24 WHIP on the season and although he struggled in his recent outing against Seattle, largely due to walks, I still like rolling with him tonight as Bauer has a great 9.1 K/9 ratio on the year and he is going against the Chicago Cubs who lead MLB in total strikeouts vs. RHP. Bauer has multiple 10+ strikeout performances so far in 2015 and if he has his control tonight, I could see a big game from Bauer.
Catcher – Matt Wieters – Baltimore Orioles
Matt Wieters has only been back for a couple weeks since returning from Tommy John Surgery and has performed well as the catcher is hitting .333 with a homerun and 4 RBI’s so far in 2015. Wieters will be facing against Philadelphia’s Aaron Harang who is finally coming back down to earth from his hot start and is coming off his worst start of the season in which he gave up 4 homeruns and 7 ER’s in 6.0 IP against Cincinnati last Tuesday. Wieters is just 1 for 4 lifetime against Harang, however is hitting .412 on the season as a LHB. Wieters is hitting .357 during night games on the season and for the fact that he will be at the hitter’s friendly Camden Yards on Monday night, makes him a solid play.
First Base – Lucas Duda – New York Mets
Lucas Duda took a little while to get his power swing going in 2015 however, he has picked up homerun total over the last month and is now hitting .278 with 9 homeruns and 28 RBI’s on the season. Duda is hitting .313 over the past week and has a good matchup against Mark Buehrle of the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday as in his career, Duda is hitting .429 against the left-hander. Buehrle has pitched well in June so far however, he has allowed LHB to have a .284 average and .543 slugging % against him so far in 2015. Duda has a .308 average and 1.033 OPS at home on the season and I expect him to have another good showing in front of the home crowd tonight.
Second Base – Dustin Pedroia – Boston Red Sox
Pretty much I’ve been sticking with Dustin Pedroia over the past week as he seems to be the only Red Sox player that is somewhat consistent so far in 2015. So far in 2015, Pedroia is hitting .309 with 9 homeruns and 27 RBI’s and has actually fared better against RHP as he has posted a .316 average. Pedroia has been great at Fenway Park hitting .316 on the season and although he hasn’t faced Williams Perez of the Atlanta Braves in his career, I’m not too concerned that Pedroia will be having trouble against him tonight. Pedroia has shown this season that he has his power back after dealing with injuries in 2014 and I’m hoping that he can park one over the Green Monster on Monday.
Shortstop – Carlos Correa – Houston Astros
Shortstop is such a weak position this year it’s been really hard to find someone else you feel confident with that is not named Troy Tulowitzki. I’m going to go with the rookie, Carlos Correa, on Monday as I feel that he is one of the few guys at this position that can get us points with his power and speed. Correa is only hitting .240 in his first 6 MLB games, but he does have hits in 5 of those 6 games and has collected 2 homeruns in that span. Chad Bettis has actually fared worse against RHB on the season and although Bettis has picked well for the Rockies in 2015, this is still a guy that has a career 5.52 ERA. I think Correa has the best chance to put up some significant numbers at the SS position tonight.
Third Base – Joey Gallo – Texas Rangers
I’m going to be sticking with another recent rookie call-up in Joey Gallo of the Texas Rangers as the third baseman so far on the season is hitting .300 with 4 homeruns and 7 RBI’s. Gallo has always been known for his power and strikeouts however, Gallo has really looked good over his last three games Gallo has more homeruns and walks than strikeouts. Gallo will be up against the right-hander, Carlos Frias of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday and as Gallo has a .417 average and 1.350 OPS against RHP in 2015, he is great pick tonight.
Outfield – Adam Jones – Baltimore Orioles
It was nice when we were getting Adam Jones at a ridiculously low price, and although his price tag has gone up as of late, he is still a solid pick tonight. On the season, Jones is hitting .305 with 10 homeruns and 33 RBI’s and has a favorable matchup against Aaron Harang of the Philadelphia Phillies as in his career he has posted a .500 (3-6) average with two doubles and 4 RBI’s against the right-hander. Jones is hitting .303 at home with 6 homeruns on the season and .308 in June as I feel that Harang is due for another subpar outing, I like Jones at Camden Yards on Monday.
Outfield – Mitch Moreland – Texas Rangers
Mitch Moreland has mostly been playing 1B on the season, but as he still has eligibility for the OF, I’m going to roll with him tonight as Moreland is having a great 2015 and has a good matchup against the right-handed Carlos Fairs of the Los Angeles Dodgers. On the season, Moreland is hitting .308 with 8 homeruns and 30 RBI’s. Moreland hasn’t faced Carlos Frias in his career, but has been absolutely crushing right-handed pitching on the season as Moreland has posted a .333 average and .989 OPS (7 homeruns and 25 RBI’s) against RHP. Moreland is hitting .356 so far in June and I hope that he can continue is dominance against RHP tonight in Texas.
Outfield – Brett Gardner – New York Yankees
Brett Gardner has posted a .271 average with 5 homeruns, 28 RBI’s and 15 SB’s so far in 2015. I’m going with Gardner tonight as he has been much better against RHP on the season as he is hitting .292 and more importantly, collected all 15 of his SB’s against RHP in 2015. Gardner will be up against Tom Koehler of the Miami Marlins tonight and although Gardner hasn’t faced Koehler in his career, Koehler has allowed LHB to have a .516 slugging % and .865 OPS against him in 2015. I’m hoping that Gardner can get us a few hits and a SB or two on Monday night.
