Fantasy Baseball Update 7/9/15: Key Matchups This Weekend
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
July 9, 2015
Today’s Thursday, so for us fantasy baseball owners that means it’s time once again to start looking forward to the big weekend matchups in the MLB. Let’s peruse the daily league trends and see which players might be putting up helpful numbers in those upcoming games.
Yasmani Grandal, C/1B, Los Angeles Dodgers: Grandal hit the waiver wire radar after lighting it up in the first two Phillies games. In those he logged two homers and five RBI among his three hits.
Grandal has had a career year so far when it comes to the long ball, and he’s sure to beat his best season. He’ll be at home against the Brewers this weekend.

Brandon Beachy, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers: Now let’s move to the hill and check out a speculative add that might pay off for the weekend. Beachy began trending mid-week thanks to a comment by Don Mattingly that he may end up coming off the DL to start on Saturday against the Brewers.
This is still up in the air a bit, but if Beachy does indeed come back he’s immediately viable in most fantasy formats.
Adam Lind, 1B, Milwaukee Brewers: Let’s stick with this Dodgers-Brewers matchup one more time and check out Lind, who has appeared in this space a few times over the year. He bagged his 15th homer of the year on Tuesday, his third multi-hit effort in four games. He posted an 0-fer yesterday but had a run.
Lind has been on fire in the power categories this year. If he can find greener pastures through a trade he’ll be even more valuable in the second half.
Hunter Pence, OF, San Francisco Giants: It’s been a while since we’ve seen Pence. He was out for a month or so due to wrist tendinitis, but came back to provide two RBI in his return against the Mets. He had two hits and an RBI yesterday.
Pence holds a pretty good BA and should be a consideration for anyone thin out in the OF as he and the Giants host the Phillies this weekend.
Ben Revere, OF, Philadelphia Phillies: Speaking of that Phillies-Giants matchup this weekend, Revere is a viable add in that series. He entered play yesterday with a seven-game hit streak, logging four runs, four RBI and a pair of steals in that frame. He sat yesterday.
Revere is one of those hit-or-miss fantasy candidates most seasons, but he’s doing plenty to warrant your attention lately. Get on the bandwagon for the San Fran games.
