Daily Fantasy Baseball – 7/10/15

Here is my lineup for tonight’s games. Please note that I’m using the salary cap based on FanDuel prices.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice – 7/9/15

Also, as this is written the day before/morning of the games, please check the lineups and weather to ensure you have all active players going tonight and that any pitching matchups mentioned below haven’t changed. Good Luck everyone!

Pitcher – Noah Syndergaard – New York Mets

As much as I want to take Madison Bumgarner against the Phillies weak offensive lineup, I think paying almost $12000 for his services is a bit too high tonight so I’m going to with the Mets rookie, Noah Syndergaard instead. Syndergaard comes into this matchup with a solid 3.38 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and has 59 strikeouts in 58.2 IP. Syndergaard comes in this match up with a 9.9 K/9 ratio and is facing an Arizona Diamondbacks team that ranks 11th in MLB in total strikeouts against RHP. Syndergaard has been great as of late as he has only given up 1 ER in three of his last four starts. Syndergaard will benefit from being at home tonight as it’s not a generous of a hitters park that Arizona is accustomed to play in and for an affordable price tag of $8400, I think Syndergaard is a good option today.

Catcher – Matt Wieters – Baltimore Orioles

Matt Wieters got the day off yesterday, but I expect him to be back in the lineup tonight as he has had great success against Gio Gonzalez of the Washington Nationals. Wieters is hitting just .240 on the season with 3 homeruns and 10 RBI’s however, in his career against the left-handed Gonzalez, Wieters has posted a .571 (8-14) average and 1.468 OPS. Gonzalez is currently have a down year as he is currently posting a 4.16 ERA and 1.43 WHIP and is allowing RHB to have a .286 average against him. Wieters is hitting .297 against LHP on the season and as Gonzalez has really struggled on the road this season (5.89 ERA), I think Wieters is a good start tonight.

First Base – Joe Mauer – Minnesota Twins

Joe Mauer has been playing well as of late as the veteran first baseman is hitting .379 (11-29) over the past week with two homeruns and as he has a solid matchup against Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers. Mauer is currently hitting .276 on the season with 6 homeruns and 42 RBI’s however, is hitting .382 so far in the month of July. Mauer has had a lot of success against Verlander as in his career he has posted a .369 (24-65) average with 3 homeruns and 10 RBI’s. Verlander has really been bad in his four starts this year as he currently has a 6.75 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. Verlander is currently allowing LHB to have a .319 average and .976 OPS against him and has been giving up the long ball as he has allowed 6 homeruns in just 22.2 IP so far in 2015.

Second Base – Ian Kinsler – Detroit Tigers

Ian Kinsler is having a down year as he currently is hitting just .266 with 3 homeruns and 39 RBI’s, however the veteran second baseman is hitting better as of late and has been great against Ervin Santana in his career. Kinsler is hitting .296 over the past week and in his career against Santana has posted a .351 (20-57) average and .957 OPS. Kinsler has been solid against the Twins over the past three seasons as he has posted a .280 average against Minnesota.

Shortstop – Francisco Lindor – Cleveland Indians

I don’t have that much salary to spend at the shortstop position today so I’m going to go with the Indians star rookie, Francisco Lindor on Thursday. Lindor isn’t putting up great offensive numbers since being called up to the majors and is currently hitting .220 with 2 homeruns and 8 RBI’s. Lindor is up against Kendall Graveman of the Oakland Athletics in which he has yet to face in his career. Graveman is having a solid season but is allowing hitters to have a .267 average against him during the season. Lindor has been a bit hot as of late as he is 5 of his last 17 with a double, homerun and 2 RBI’s. Lindor has been generally batting in the 2-spot for the Indians and as he will have some big lefty bats hitting behind him against a RHP, I’m going to take my chances on Lindor tonight.

Third Base – Josh Donaldson – Toronto Blue Jays

Danny Duffy is going against the Toronto Blue Jays tonight, which means I’m going to load up on some of the big RHB of the Blue Jays tonight and go with the best third baseman on the board in Josh Donaldson. Donaldson is having a monster season as he posted a .299 average with 21 homeruns and 60 RBI’s. Donaldson has been a monster against LHP on the season as he is hitting .356 with 6 homeruns and 15 RBI’s in 73 AB’s. Duffy is allowing RHB to have a .289 average and .846 OPS against him on the season and I think the Blue Jays are in for a big day against the veteran left-hander.

Outfield – Jose Bautista – Toronto Blue Jays

I’m going to stay in Kansas City and take another Blue Jays slugger in Jose Bautista. Jose Bautista is hitting just .234 on the season but does have 17 homeruns and 59 RBI’s. Bautista does have limited experience against the left-handed Duffy and has a .750 (3 for 4) average with three walks. Bautista has hit much better against LHP on the season as he has a .270 average and has a .288 average with 6 homeruns in the past three seasons against the Royals.

Outfield – Josh Hamilton – Texas Rangers

I stacked the Texas LHB’s which included Josh Hamilton earlier this week which didn’t pay off, however, I’m going with Hamilton against Ian Kennedy of the San Diego Padres who has really struggled this year. Hamilton is hitting .268 with 2 homeruns and 6 RBI’s in his limited action this season and is hitting .286 against RHP. Kennedy has really had a tough season as he comes into this matchup with a 4.84 ERA and 1.31 WHIP and has given up an incredible 18 homeruns in 80.0 IP so far in 2015. Kennedy is allowing LHB to have a .804 OPS and as Hamilton always has the potential to go off for a couple of homeruns, I think he is a solid value option today.

Outfield – Shin-Soo Choo – Texas Rangers

Similar to my logic with Josh Hamilton, I’m going with Shin-Soo Choo of the Texas Rangers on Friday. Choo is hitting just .230 on the season but does have 11 homeruns and 38 RBI’s. Choo is hitting .276 against and has 9 of his 11 homeruns against RHP on the season. As I mentioned above, Ian Kennedy has really had a hard time keeping the baseball in the ball park as he is allowing a homerun in every 4.4 IP. Choo is hitting .284 at home on the season and is hitting a decent .276 in the month of July. Choo has been batting at the top of the Rangers lineup and I think if he can get on base, he’ll have a good opportunity to get us some quality fantasy points.
