Fantasy Baseball Update 8/6/15: Key Matchups This Weekend
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
August 6, 2015
Thursday means it’s time for us fantasy baseball owners to check out the upcoming MLB matchups over the weekend. Let’s visit the waiver wire and see if there are any promising names out there who could make a solid impact on our rosters over the next few days.
Yangervis Solarte, 1B/2B/3B, San Diego Padres: Solarte has gotten quite a bit of fantasy interest over the past several days, thanks to his consistent hitting. Heading into yesterday’s matchup, he had five multi-hit games in his previous seven, yielding six runs, two homers and seven RBI.
Solarte and the gang will head home tomorrow to face off against the incoming Phillies. He’s a nice low-end pickup for his positional eligibility.

R.A. Dickey, SP, Toronto Blue Jays: Now let’s move on over to the mound to visit with Dickey. He’s on a three-game win streak right now and has given up no earned on nine hits over his past two starts combined.
Dickey holds a 4.06 ERA on the year with a 1.24 WHIP but has been bringing his numbers down lately. He’ll get the opener in New York against the Yankees tomorrow.
Jimmy Nelson, SP, Milwaukee Brewers: Nelson has been on a nice run lately as well. He’s 3-0 in his last four games and has allowed no earned runs over his last three appearances.
Nelson will be at home on Sunday against the Cardinals trying to get his 10th win of the season. He’s currently carrying a 3.57 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP.
Brandon Phillips, 2B, Cincinnati Reds: Phillips is still available in quite a few leagues, so it wouldn’t hurt to check yours out. Heading into yesterday, he had a five-game hit streak with four runs, two homers, seven RBI and four steals in that span. He nabbed three more hits and a steal yesterday.
Phillips has been resurgent on the base paths this year, which only adds to his value in fantasy. He’s in Arizona to face the Diamondbacks this weekend.
Logan Forsythe, 1B/2B, Tampa Bay Rays: We’ll finish up with Forsythe today, as he generated a lot of interest in the first two games of the White Sox series. In those, he managed three hits, three runs, a homer and four RBI. He logged a hit with two runs and an RBI yesterday.
Forsythe is giving some very nice power numbers for his fantasy level and will even swipe a base here and there as a bonus. He’s back at home against the Mets this weekend.
