Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
August 27, 2015
Thursday means it’s time once again for us fantasy baseball owners to start looking forward to the big matchups around the MLB this weekend. We’ve got a few interesting potential adds for you to peruse this morning, so let’s visit the numbers and see why these players are trending on the waiver wire right now.
Tom Wilhelmsen, RP, Seattle Mariners: Wilhelmsen set himself apart as the Mariners’ leading option as a closer on Tuesday, posting a one-hit ninth-inning save against the A’s. it was his fourth save of the year.
Wilhelmsen also bagged a save in the White Sox finale, and he’ll be facing them again starting today on the South Side. He’s a good option for those scraping for saves right now.
USA TODAY Sports
Raisel Iglesias, SP, Cincinnati Reds: Iglesias has appeared on the waiver wire radar several times recently, and he’s trending once again ahead of his next start. He’s coming off a tough-luck loss to the Diamondbacks, where he allowed one earned on three hits in seven innings.
Iglesias will be in action once again tomorrow in the first game of the Brewers series in Milwaukee. He’s holding a 3.93 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP right now.
Carlos Rodon, SP/RP, Chicago White Sox: Rodon is another popular SP pickup right now, thanks to a seven-inning no-decision in his last outing in Seattle. He allowed six hits and one earned in that one.
Rodon currently holds a 4.22 ERA with a 1.54 WHIP. He’ll pitch the opener of the Mariners series at home today.
Wilmer Flores, 2B/SS, New York Mets: Flores made some major waves this week in the opener of the Phillies series, bashing two homers with five RBI, three runs and three overall hits. He bagged two more hits yesterday.
Flores’ six-game hit streak came to an end this week, but given the fact that he plays a tough fantasy position he’s still getting a lot of adds. He’ll be back at home against the Red Sox starting tomorrow.
Travis d’Arnaud, C, New York Mets: If you need a catcher, d’Arnaud is the guy to have right now. Heading into play yesterday he had a four-game hit streak going with five runs, two homers and seven RBI in that span. He got a day off and didn’t play in yesterday’s game.
D’Arnaud had a bit of a tough stretch toward the middle of the month, but seems like he’s evened out lately. He’ll be finishing up in Philly today before heading home for Boston.
