Fantasy Football 2015: Injury Update 9/14
Taking a Look at the Injured Fantasy Stars Heading into Week 2
September 14, 2015
Now that most of the Week 1 NFL games are in the books, today marks a good opportunity to check out some of the notable injury situations out there among key fantasy players. Let’s see if we can get an idea of what things will look like tonight and in Week 2.
Let’s start things off on the lower end of the QB spectrum and check out Josh McCown of the Browns. He had to exit yesterday’s game due to a concussion, which came on a wild spinning hit on the goal line.
That brought in ol’ Johnny Football, who actually played pretty well in relief--aside from a few mistakes.
Manziel managed 182 yards, a touchdown and a pick, but he also lost a pair of fumbles. The five carries for 35 yards help out a little, though.
Manziel becomes a low-end fantasy option as the Browns welcome the Titans in Week 2--as long as McCown doesn’t recover before then.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the Cowboys’ Dez Bryant. He broke his foot last night in the second half against the Giants, and the early indications are that he’ll miss 4-6 weeks. We hope you have a capable backup to fill in.
Here’s a pretty big one. The Colts’ T.Y. Hilton had to come out of yesterday’s game in the second half due to a knee injury. He was X-rayed in the locker room.
The good news is that Hilton’s tests came back negative. That said, he’s likely going to miss a few weeks due to a bruised knee. Owners will want to keep a close watch on any new info out of Indianapolis, but it doesn’t look too good.
We hope you pulled Buccaneers WR Mike Evans out of your lineup in time for yesterday’s game. He was inactive due to his hamstring.
There wasn’t a lot of optimism surrounding Evans in the lead-up to game-time, so this comes as little surprise. He may be okay for Week 2, as long as he gets some practice time in over the next few days. He’ll be a guy for owners to keep tabs on in those sessions.
The injury bug continues to gnaw at Raiders WR DeSean Jackson. He had to come out of yesterday’s opener early on thanks to a hamstring injury.
Jackson was just coming off of a sprained shoulder, so this is definitely a downer for his potential fantasy value. Keep an eye on those MRI results before you make any decisions about his status going forward.
Before we sign out, let’s check in on Texans RB Arian Foster. The latest rumor says he’s been telling his friends that he could be back for Week 2 against the Panthers.
A return this weekend would be great, but even if he’s not good to go by then we should see him back in Week 3. He’s coming off groin surgery and becomes an immediate impact player in fantasy whenever he’s out there.
