Fantasy Football 2015: Week 5 Waiver Wire Update
Taking a Look at the Week 5 Waiver Wire Trends
October 6, 2015
It’s Tuesday, and Week 4 of the 2015 fantasy football season is in the books. It’s now time to start looking ahead to Week 5, so with that in mind let’s head on over to the waiver wire and check out which players are the hot pickups ahead of this next round of games.
Ronnie Hillman, RB, Denver Broncos: Hillman will see a nice up-tick in ownership this week. He’s coming off a 16.8-point fantasy week, rushing for 103 yards and a score on 11 carries.
That said, Hillman is still something of a gamble. He’ll likely split carries pretty evenly with C.J. Anderson (they both got 11 in Week 4), but Hillman is probably the better fantasy pickup thanks to his explosive potential. He’s in Oakland this week.

Allen Hurns, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars: Pretty much no one expected an 11-catch, 116-yard day from Hurns in Week 4, but he’s now scored at least 13 fantasy points in consecutive weeks.
Hurns has worked himself into the WR3/flex conversation this week and gets a pretty nice matchup in Tampa Bay. Owners hurting from injuries/byes should look his way.
New York Giants Defense: Don’t look now, but Big Blue has a defense. They played well in Buffalo, racking up two sacks, a pick and a fumble recovery, all while limiting the Bills to just 10 points.
Those fantasy owners who are stringing defenses should take a hard look at the Giants this week. They get a nice matchup at home against the struggling 49ers.
Willie Snead, WR, New Orleans Saints: Pretty much no one knew Snead’s name coming into the year, but he’s quickly becoming a viable low-end wide receiver in fantasy. He posted catches on all six of his targets in the Cowboys win, which ended up totaling 89 yards.
Snead has at least six targets in each of the last three weeks, and he’s made quite the impression on the Saints offense. He’ll be in Philly this week and is worth checking out.
Gary Barnidge, TE, Cleveland Browns: If you’ve got tight end trouble right now, why not examine Barnidge? He’s coming off six catches for 75 yards and a touchdown, his second straight double-digit fantasy performance after 105 yards and a score on six grabs in Week 3.
Barnidge was a relative unknown through the first couple weeks of the season, but has found a niche in the Browns’ offense. He’ll be in Baltimore this week.
