Fantasy Football 2015: Week 5 Key Matchups
Taking a Look at the Week 5 Waiver Wire Trends
October 7, 2015
We’re now through four weeks of the 2015 fantasy football season, so hopefully your team is at least .500 so far. Let’s take a look at some of the notable matchups in Week 5 and see if there are any waiver-wire level players that could give your roster a boost in the upcoming games.
Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego Chargers: It’s time to pull out Gates and dust him off for your roster this week. He’s eligible to return from suspension for the Steelers game on Monday and is only owned in a little over half the fantasy leagues out there.
Gates should jump right into the Chargers starting role, and with all the injuries San Diego is facing with their receiving corps, he could have a big night.

Atlanta Falcons Defense: Those of us fantasy owners who string defenses from week to week will want to check out the Falcons, who are coming off a huge outing against the Texans.
Atlanta posted 21 fantasy points in Week 4, snagging two touchdowns, three fumble recoveries, a sack and a pick. They’ll get a crummy Redskins offense at home in Week 5 and should play well.
Cairo Santos, K, Kansas City Chiefs: Normally we’re not too concerned with kickers around here, but Santos’ numbers look too good to pass up. He posted a whopping 27 points in Week 4 against the Bengals, with seven field goals--two of which were over 50 yards.
That makes two double-digit fantasy weeks for Santos, who gets a nice matchup at home against the Bears this week. He’ll then go to Minnesota and get two more home games before the bye. Not too shabby.
Richard Rodgers, TE, Green Bay Packers: The “other” Rodgers in Green Bay is making a name for himself in fantasy. He posted 45 yards and a score in San Francisco during Week 4, giving him two double-digit fantasy weeks so far.
Rodgers has at least four targets in each of the last three weeks and is a viable red-zone option for the Pack. He’ll see a St. Louis D that’s somewhere in the middle among tight end scoring in fantasy for Week 5.
Darren McFadden, RB, Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys are in some major injury trouble right now on offense, so everyone still standing gets an upgrade. That includes McFadden, who rushed 10 times for 31 yards in Week 4.
The Cowboys will have to get creative against New England in Week 5, and an expanded role could be in store for McFadden. He’s still a low-end start, but could pay off if he can score.
