Coming up on the Week 5 edition of “Thursday Night Football,” we’ve got an AFC South matchup between the Colts and the Texans. Indianapolis (2-2) barely squeaked by the Jaguars in overtime Sunday, while Houston (1-3) was utterly destroyed by the Falcons in Week 4.
There will be plenty of notable fantasy football names out on the field for this one, so with that in mind let’s take a closer look at some of the major players and see what we might be expecting this week.
Andrew Luck, QB, Indianapolis Colts: Luck had to sit out Week 3 against the Jaguars due to a shoulder injury. Owners will have to watch him closely this week to see if he’s on track to start again Thursday.
Even when Luck has been out there, he’s been beat up and not very effective. If he can’t go, Matt Hasselbeck will start again and makes little more than a desperation fantasy QB.

Brian Hoyer, QB, Houston Texans: Starting quarterback Ryan Mallett was yanked in the third quarter of the Texans’ Week 4 loss to the Falcons when the team was down 42-0. Hoyer logged 232 yards and two cosmetic scores in mop-up duty.
We’re not going to pretend you’re relying on Hoyer or Mallett in fantasy; neither is a reliable option unless you’re desperate.
Frank Gore, RB, Indianapolis Colts: Gore had a pretty awful game in Week 4 against the Jaguars. He posted 17 carries for 53 yards with five grabs for 34 more, but what fantasy owners will remember most is his crucial lost fumble.
Gore’s only good week came against the Titans, and he wasn’t able to match that in the Jacksonville victory. He’s probably still a flex-level guy, but we’re not all that excited about him.
Arian Foster, RB, Houston Texans: Foster came back from injury in Week 4, but maybe he should have waited longer. He’d finish with just 10 rush yards on eight carries with 25 more on three grabs. He also lost a fumble.
Nothing worked for the Texans in Week 4, and we’re not imagining much of an improvement here. Foster might be a flex guy this week, though, as long as he’s healthy.
T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts: Hilton took a backseat to Coby Fleener in the passing game in Week 4, logging seven grabs for 67 yards.
Hilton still hasn’t found the end zone this season, nor has he broken the 100-yard mark. He’s still a definite fantasy starter, but would benefit more from a Luck return.
DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans: One of the few statistical bright spots for the Texans in Week 4 was Hopkins, who hauled in nine grabs for 157 yards.
Hopkins is about the only Texans offensive player worth writing home about in fantasy. He’s scored double-digit points in all but one week, and should do pretty well on Thursday.
