Fantasy Football 2015: Injury Update 11/16
Fantasy Football Injury News: Week 11 Outlook on Ailing Players
November 16, 2015
It’s Monday in the NFL’s Week 10, and that means it’s time for our weekly look at the injured fantasy football stars around the league. We’ve got a handful of new (and old) injuries to address this morning, so let’s take a closer look at the latest information and see what we can figure out.
The Steelers’ Landry Jones exited yesterday’s game against the Browns due to a left ankle injury. As a result, the team had to go with their emergency contingency of Ben Roethlisberger--who wasn’t supposed to come back for a couple more weeks.
Everything worked out well. The Steelers won the game, and Roethlisberger had an awesome passing line. He’d finish 22-of-33 for 379 yards and three touchdowns, which is a record for the most passing yards off the bench.
The Steelers will go into a bye this week, after which Roethlisberger should be back to his regular duties against Seattle. As for Jones, he’ll probably be healed up by then as well; he was warming up on the sideline in the second half but didn’t get back in the game.

The oft-injured Sam Bradford is down once again. He suffered a grade II AC joint sprain (non-throwing shoulder) in yesterday’s game, a loss against the Dolphins.
To make matters worse, Bradford also sustained a concussion, so he could miss multiple weeks. That means it’s Mark Sanchez time in Philly, which probably won’t get a lot of fantasy owners’ hopes up. Sanchez tossed 156 yards and a pick in relief of Bradford yesterday, and is nothing but a low-level start for fantasy owners.
Peyton Manning likely lost countless games for countless fantasy owners yesterday. He stumbled through the worst game of his career yesterday, tossing four interceptions and finishing with a zero passer rating.
Manning is really banged up right now. He’s got rib and foot issues that are affecting his performance more than he’s letting on. That said, if he’s healthy enough to play next week, he’ll be out there. If not, it’ll be Brock Osweiler, who won’t give much of a lift in fantasy terms.
Julian Edelman owners are scrambling for a replacement this morning, as yesterday it was divulged that he’d suffered a broken bone in his foot.
Edelman will have surgery today on his Jones fracture (the same thing Dez Bryant had earlier this year), and there’s hope he’ll get back on the field this season. Danny Amendola will likely step up in Edelman’s absence.
As if the Eagles didn’t get enough bad news yesterday, Ryan Mathews suffered a concussion in the loss to the Dolphins. He scored a touchdown before exiting, but his yardage totals were pretty paltry.
For now, we’ll consider Mathews week-to-week as we await his status in the league’s concussion protocol.
