Fantasy Football 2015: Week 15 Key Matchups
Taking a Look at the Week 15 Waiver Wire Trends and Matchup Plays
December 16, 2015
It’s Wednesday, and around here that means it’s time once again to check out the fantasy football waiver wire and see if there are any promising matchups out there for some of the more widely-available players. We’ve got an interesting grouping for you today, so let’s visit the numbers and see if anyone’s right for you in Week 15.
Denard Robinson, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: There’s a reason why Robinson is at the top of the waiver wire charts this week. He saw plenty of usage taking over for an injured T.J. Yeldon in Week 14, logging 14 rushes for 75 yards and a TD.
Even better, Robinson goes into this week against a horrid Atlanta rush defense. The Falcons are giving up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing running backs, and Robinson should get plenty of opportunities to exploit that.

Pittsburgh Steelers Defense: The Steelers are on a roll right now, grabbing victories in four of their last five. In that span, their defense has scored double-digit fantasy points in three outings, most recently a 16-point effort against Cincinnati.
The Steelers will get the Broncos at home this week, and Denver is giving up the eighth-most fantasy points to defenses this year. The Steelers are on the upswing, and have some great matchups down the stretch.
A.J. McCarron, QB, Cincinnati Bengals: Need a (really) low-end QB? McCarron is your guy. He attempted to fill in for the injured Andy Dalton pretty admirably in Week 14, posting 18 fantasy points on 280 yards passing with two touchdowns.
McCarron gets the 49ers defense in Week 15. That’s not a stellar matchup, but it’s not bad, either. He should be good for a couple of touchdowns for the QB-needy out there in fantasy land.
Bilal Powell, RB, New York Jets: This week is a little weird; the Jets and Cowboys play on Saturday night, and there’s a nice matchup play in there with Powell. He has 16.8 and 14.2 fantasy points, respectively, in the last two weeks, scoring in both games.
Powell will see a Dallas defense that’s giving up the ninth-most fantasy points to running backs this year, and is a decent bet for another receiving score.
Eric Ebron, TE, Detroit Lions: Let’s finish things up today with the Lions-Saints matchup on Monday night. Ebron has more than 2.8 fantasy points in just one of his last six outings, but the matchup here is the key.
New Orleans has given up the most fantasy points to tight ends this season, and in a game that should be a high-scoring affair, Ebron could haul in a touchdown. He’s still a low-ender, but is worthy of consideration.
