Fantasy Hockey 2015-16: Waiver Wire Update 1/29
Fantasy Hockey Daily Leagues: Waiver Pickups and Advice for After the All-Star Break
January 29, 2016
Just because the NHL is on a break doesn’t mean you should ignore your fantasy hockey team. The All-Star lull is a great opportunity to upgrade your roster, so let’s check out some of the notable waiver wire adds out there and see if anyone’s right for your team.
Eddie Lack, G, Carolina Hurricanes: The top add over the All-Star break seems to be Lack, who is coming off a shutout win over the Blackhawks. He put up 26 saves in that one, his second straight victory.
Lack has nine wins on the year with a 2.68 GAA and .904 save percentage. The Hurricanes are playing a lot better these days, with wins in three of their last four.

Nikolaj Ehlers, LW/RW, Winnipeg Jets: Up in Winnipeg, Ehlers has been making some noise on the ice. He bagged a hat trick in his last appearance against the Coyotes, which gives him a four-game points streak.
Ehlers has 12 goals and 10 assists on the year with 120 shots on goal. His next appearance will be at home against Dallas.
Tomas Hertl, C/LW, San Jose Sharks: Hertl is still available in about 2/3 of the leagues out there, so he’s a nice add right now. In his last three games, he has two goals and two assists with a plus-4 rating.
Hertl has posted 10 goals and 16 helpers on the year thus far, and has a plus-6 rating. He’s scored four times in just the last six games.
Mattias Ekholm, D, Nashville Predators: Over on the defensive side, Ekholm is probably the most popular add this weekend. He’s got a five-game points streak right now, bagging four assists and two goals in that time.
Ekholm and the Preds went 4-for-4 on their road trip and head into the break on a great run. Ekholm has been a key part of that, and should continue.
Ryan Spooner, C/LW, Boston Bruins: Spooner is still out there in just under 2/3 of leagues, and has a four-game points streak going (four assists).
On the season, Spooner has been good for 10 goals and 27 helpers. He’s been an assists machine lately, so if you’re lacking there he’s a nice lower-end add. He’ll see the Maple Leafs in his next outing.
