Fantasy Hockey 2015-16: Waiver Wire Update 2/18
Fantasy Hockey Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
February 18, 2016
We’ve got a pretty sizable NHL schedule coming tonight, which means there will be plenty of activity in seasonal and daily fantasy hockey leagues. With that in mind, let’s check out some of the notable waiver wire adds out there and see which players are trending right now.
Brayden Schenn, C/LW, Philadelphia Flyers: Schenn is still available in over half of the leagues out there, but won’t be for long. He’s got three goals and two assists in his last four games, with a plus-4 rating in that span.
On the season, Schenn has 17 goals and 17 assists in total. He won’t blow anyone away with points, but is a solid deeper-league add. He plays tomorrow in Montreal.

Andre Burakovsky, LW, Washington Capitals: The Caps are rolling along right now, winning six of their last seven games. During that span, Burakovsky has scored four times and assisted on three more.
Burakovsky is beginning to get comfortable in the NHL, and has a bright future ahead--especially among this talented team. He has 12 goals and 15 assists on the season, and will try to better that tonight against the Isles.
Eddie Lack, G, Carolina Hurricanes: Lack is the hot goalie add these days; he’s won three of his last four starts. That includes a one-goal victory over the Jets in his last appearance. He made 20 saves in that one.
With Cam Ward ailing, Lack is the go-to guy in Carolina. He has 10 wins with a 2.66 GAA so far. The ‘Canes will be in Ottawa tonight.
Brooks Orpik, D, Washington Capitals: Let’s go back to the Caps for a moment and check out Orpik. He returned from a lower-body injury at home against the Kings this week, and promptly logged an assist with a plus-1 rating in 16:43 of ice time.
Orpik missed a whopping 40 games with his injury, but appears to be none the worse for wear now. He’s still a deep-league option, but could get a point or two tonight against the Islanders.
Shane Doan, LW/RW, Arizona Coyotes: Doan is still out there in roughly half of the overall fantasy leagues, and deserves at least a look. He hasn’t recorded a point in his last two games, but before that had a nice streak going with four goals and two assists over four appearances.
Doan has 21 goals and 12 assists on the season so far. The Coyotes obviously aren’t playing very well these days, so he might inch your plus-minus down a little. Still, he’s in play for the Stars tonight.
