Fantasy Hockey 2015-16: Sleeper Picks 3/8
Fantasy Hockey Daily Leagues: Waiver Wire Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
March 8, 2016
Ahead of us tonight, we’ve got eight games of NHL action on the slate. That means it’s a great time to check out some of the notable sleeper and waiver wire pickups out there in seasonal and daily fantasy hockey leagues. Here’s a closer look at the trending names.
Lee Stempniak, LW/RW, Boston Bruins: Stempniak is this morning’s top waiver wire pickup, and he’s still available in about half of the leagues out there. He’s got a goal and five assists in his last three games, posting a plus-4 rating in that span.
Stempniak is producing some nice numbers on his current line, and should continue to play well. He’s in Tampa Bay tonight.

Mike Ribeiro, C, Nashville Predators: Ribeiro is on a hot streak as well. He’s got seven assists and a goal in his last six games alone.
On the season, Ribeiro has seven goals and 39 assists with a nice plus-10 rating. He’s also available in roughly 80 percent of leagues out there. He’ll be in Winnipeg tonight, which kicks off a five-game trip for the Preds.
Antti Raanta, G, New York Rangers: With Henrik Lundqvist ailing (neck), Raanta has made himself the top goalie pickup in fantasy hockey. He had a bad outing against the Isles, however, allowing five shots on 31 attempts.
Raanta still has some pretty good seasonal numbers, with seven wins and a 2.49 GAA. He’s got a good team in front of him and should rebound in Buffalo tonight. Lundqvist will be back very soon, though, so don’t get used to it.
Nikita Soshnikov, RW, Toronto Maple Leafs: Soshnikov has only played in a handful of games so far, but has posted some impressive stats. He’s got two goals and an assist in his last four, with 10 shots on goal in his last two.
Soshnikov is widely available in just about every fantasy format, so if you’re in need of lower-end winger help he’s a solid target. He’ll play the Isles at home tomorrow.
Zack Smith, C, Ottawa Senators: It’s been a couple of days since Smith has been on the ice, so let’s refresh our memories on him. He’s currently working a five-game points streak, during which he’s collected three goals and two assists with a plus-3 rating.
Smith has 18 goals and eight assists on the year and has been contributing quite well lately. He will be in Carolina tonight.
