Fantasy Hockey 2015-16: Waiver Wire Update 3/14
Fantasy Hockey Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
March 14, 2016
We’ve got a nice NHL schedule coming up tonight, which means there will be plenty of activity happening in seasonal and daily fantasy hockey leagues. That said, let’s take a look at the waiver wire and see which players are trending out there as adds.
Mike Smith, G, Arizona Coyotes: Smith doesn’t play again for a few days, but he’s trending at the top of the waiver wire charts so we’ll check him out. He missed a whopping 40 games due to core muscle surgery, but returned against Edmonton to record 44 saves in a shutout victory.
It’s a nice comeback for Smith, who will see a lot of adds in the coming days. He should see much of the work for the Coyotes in the coming weeks, but is still just a lower-end goalie. He gets the Sharks on Thursday.
USA TODAY Sports
Keith Kinkaid, G, New Jersey Devils: After a pretty ugly run, the Devils have posted nice wins in their last two. Kinkaid has been a part of that; he’s coming off 22 saves on 23 shots in Los Angeles.
Before that game, he recorded another win in a shutout in San Jose. He has seven wins with a 2.44 GAA this year and will try for three in a row tonight in Anaheim as the Devils close out their road trip.
Reilly Smith, LW/RW, Florida Panthers: Smith is pretty hot these days in fantasy, and has gotten lots of attention. In his last appearance, he scored twice and had a plus-2 rating in a win over Philly.
Smith has four goals and three assists in his last six games, with 23 goals and 20 assists overall. That makes him a great lower-end pickup for the Islanders tonight.
Zack Smith, C, Ottawa Senators: Smith doesn’t play until tomorrow, but he’s been on such a nice streak that we shouldn’t ignore him. He’s coming off of a goal and a plus-3 mark against Toronto.
That gives Smith a sweet eight-game points streak, and he’s having a career season at 21 goals and nine assists. Low-end owners will want to check him out for Minnesota tomorrow.
Antoine Vermette, C/LW, Arizona Coyotes: Let’s get back to the Coyotes for a moment and finish up with Vermette. He scored twice and added an assist with a plus-2 mark in Edmonton, giving him three goals and two assists in his last two games.
Vermette is capable of some nice points outbursts, as evidenced by his 14 goals and 19 assists on the year. He’s a guy to look at if you’re in need of scoring on Thursday.
