Fantasy Hockey Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
March 31, 2016
We’ve got a very big evening of NHL hockey on tap for us tonight, as the playoff races heat up. That means there’s plenty to do in both seasonal and daily fantasy hockey leagues, so let’s check out some of the waiver wire trends and see if anyone’s worth picking up.
Nazem Kadri, C, Toronto Maple Leafs: Kadri is sitting near the top of the waiver wire charts today, thanks to a hat trick against the Panthers. That gives him five goals and two assists in his last four games. On the season, Kadri has 17 goals and 27 assists. He won’t do much for your plus-minus (minus-14), but does score in bunches. He will be in Buffalo tonight.

Jared Spureon, D, Minnesota Wild: Moving on over to the defensive side, let’s visit with Spurgeon. He scored a goal and had a plus-2 rating in his last appearance, a win over the Blackhawks. The Wild are cookin right now, and Spurgeon has three goals in his last three appearances. On the season, he has 11 scores and 18 helpers with a plus-13 mark. Not too shabby. He’ll be at home against the Senators tonight.
Carl Hagelin, LW, Pittsburgh Penguins: Hagelin is trending once again, thanks to a nice three-game run. In that span, he’s posted two assists, two goals and a plus-4 rating. On the year, Hagelin has been able to put up 11 goals, 23 assists and a mark of plus-4. He’s got 16 shots on goal in his last four games and will look to up that total even more tonight at home against the incoming Predators.
Erik Haula, C/LW, Minnesota Wild: Let's get back to the Wild for a couple more noteworthy players. Haula is coming off a nice game against Chicago. In that one, he posted a goal and an assist, with a plus-2 rating. That gives him a sweet points streak of nine games. In that span, Haula has picked up four goals and six assists with a plus-7 mark. That makes him plus-23 for the year with 13 goals and 20 assists.
Nino Niederreiter, RW, Minnesota Wild: We’ve talked about Niederreiter a couple of times this season in this space, and here he is again. He logged a goal and an assist in the Blackhawks game, giving him six goals and four assists in the last nine outings. Niederreiter has 20 goals and 23 assists on the season, and could be a nice low-end play for the Senators tonight. For the latest article updates, follow Andrew on Twitter @SCPAndrew.
