Fantasy Baseball 2016: Waiver Wire Update 4/23
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
April 23, 2016
Now that we fantasy baseball owners have gotten a feel for the weekend series happening around the MLB, let’s visit the waiver wire and see if there are any interesting adds we can check out for our rosters. Here’s a closer look at the numbers.
Blake Snell, SP, Tampa Bay Rays: Hurry up and grab Snell before his start today against the Yankees. He’ll be making his major-league debut filling in for Erasmo Ramirez, who was needed in relief back on Thursday.
Snell has a lot of healthy buzz around him, and has a 2.51 ERA across 14.1 innings in the minors this season. For now, it’s a spot-start today, but deeper leagues might want to clear out a spot for him--it may come in handy later.

Aaron Blair, SP, Atlanta Braves: Now let’s look at another pitching prospect in Blair. He’s scheduled to start in tomorrow’s series finale against the Mets, which will be his Braves debut.
Blair struck out 10 during seven innings during his last outing, allowing no hits at all. The Braves don’t have much to lose by giving him a shot with the big club.
Jake Lamb, 3B, Arizona Diamondbacks: Lamb sat yesterday against a left-handed starter, but we’ve got enough info on him to speculate fantasy wise. He’s currently sitting on a five-game hit streak, with three runs, a homer and four RBI in that span.
Lamb is hitting .316 with two homers and 10 RBI on the season. He’s a nice depth play at 3B right now as the Pirates series rolls on.
Joey Rickard, OF, Baltimore Orioles: Ahead of last night’s matchup against the Royals, Rickard was a hot add. He carried a six-game hit streak into that one, with four runs, an RBI and a steal in that span.
Rickard has some nice upside, and will likely do pretty well in steals for his fantasy level. He’ll see the Royals this weekend, then head to Tampa Bay for the Rays.
Michael Saunders, OF, Toronto Blue Jays: Let’s finish up by sticking in the outfield and check out Saunders (who is day-to-day at the moment). He’s currently sitting on a five-game hit streak, collecting eight hits, six runs and an RBI in that span.
That gives Saunders a .321 BA with four RBI on the season. He’s a deeper-league pickup, obviously, but amid that potent Blue Jays order there are a lot of things to like.
